Best pregnancy workouts?

Hi all! I'm 16 weeks pregnant, a keen runner in normal times. Up until last week I was jogging religiously, but I had a few runs where I had stomach pains and on advice of midwife have decided to call it a day. In a couple of weeks when the pools re-open I'll hit the swimming, but am looking for a few other things I can do in the meantime/throw in the mix. I already walk the dog every day so thinking something a bit more intense/that will get heart rate up. Can anyone recommend any good home videos/sessions or generally other ideas for keeping (a bit) fit for the next 5 months?! Thanks in advance :)

Have a look at the Instagram page bumps and burpees. They do lots of live workouts and have lots of saved ones, working all different aspects

Exactly the same for me with running at 16 weeks! I did a Joe Wicks prenatal workout on YouTube yesterday - I'd have found it so easy pre pregnancy but I'm so achey today! He filmed it with his wife when she was pregnant.

Nice work on keeping the running going so far!

Have you looked at the Les Mills On Demand stuff? I’ve only done body balance so far, but those have someone demo’ing the ‘pregnancy’ option (it’s just sometimes a bit of a wait until the camera moves to them).

Nourishmovelove has some good ones on YouTube . I struggled as I found a lot of the pregnancy workouts I found were too easy but she actually has some hard ones!

Carabu1 · 15/07/2020 12:15

Thanks for these - really helpful! Will try some out tonight.

@jdy123 - sounds perfect! I (was) quite fit before this so I do find some of the pregnancy ones I've looked at a bit easy/dull usually. But I guess that may be part of the point?!

@Amwl glad its not just me. I am a bit disappointed as was hoping to make it to 6 months really, but if it means the baby is OK it will be worth the hiatus.

Bodyfit by Amy (youtube videos) are also good; she filmed the prenatal ones while she was pregnant herself. There's a variety of cardio, arms, legs, etc so I found it quite good when I wanted something specific and more active.

Follow Results with Bump on Instagram, there are a few saved workouts on the stories part or you can sign up and try it out for 7 days for free

I was looking this up yesterday myself and have found a few prenatal yoga classes on YouTube that look good, I haven't tried them yet to fully recommend them but can share the channels if you're interested? Xx

My local area are started yoga in the park which I want to join when I am further.

It might not raise the heartbeat but I used to sleep so well after and it's great prep for labour too.

Infullbloom · 19/07/2020 15:17

Definitely bodyfit by Amy, she has loads of pre/post natal workouts on YouTube and always has modifications for pregnant women in her other workouts. She's the least annoying online instructor I've came across and I've been doing her workouts for 3 years without getting bored!

Carabu1 · 19/07/2020 15:50

Thanks for these! I did body fit with
Amy yesterday and it was really good - 45mins, hard-ish but nothing crazy. My things are def stuff today! I think when pools reopen a bit of that and swimming should do the trick.

I've been doing a lot of bumps and burpees (autocorrected to burgers 😂) on insta and babyfit by amy on YouTube. Completely agree about amy being the least annoying instructor in youtube! Some of then are OTT about the fact you are pregnant (I did one yoga vid which kept telling me to put my hands on my stomach and "feel the love growing inside me"...that's not what I'm after, I want a normal workout that's safe for preggos!).
I also have a beach body membership and they have a few pregnancy workouts - it's about a hundred pounds a year but the amount of workouts they have on there is crazy so I've always found it worth the moment.
Body coach has a couple of pregnancy ones but I found them quite easy and low calorie burning.
Hope you find some you enjoy!
