Hi ladies, I'm a FTM and I'm struggling to know what to buy exactly for the first baby 😅 my friend has recommended this car seat as it's on offer and will last for years. What are your thoughts?
Many thanks in advance!!

We have a similar one that spins and it's really useful from 6m+ however at a younger age i would consider having one that goes with your buggy as a travel system. This means if baby is asleep you can just take them on and out of the car in the car seat without having to wake them up! Also easy to carry them out of the house etc.

I would strongly advise against it. It only rear faces as a group 0 seat and baby needs to rear face as long as possible and until at least 4 years old.

It's also not clear what additional testing (if any) it has been put through.

If you want something fairly long lasting but better I'd suggest looking at maybe the Joie stages or I-spin.

Ah yes good point @Sunshinegirl82 didn't realise it doesn't rear face beyond stage 0. We have the joie 360 and it rear faces all the way up to 25kg, it's great. But when DD was a newborn we had a group 0+ seat that fitted our buggy as I said before.

Have a look on the Which website. They have ratings for car seats and a list of seats to avoid. I wouldn’t get this one as it doesn’t rear face for very long. I prefer them to rear face for longer for their safety

@Sunshinegirl82 @bananallamas thank you ladies, I'm glad I asked because I wouldn't have known this! Seemed too cheap and too good to be true haha
Thank you for the link, will look to get that one I think :)

There is a Facebook group called car seat library and the lady on there is great and has loads of great videos on all the different car seats. How they fit, the testing etc. Definitely worth a look for some info, it's very overwhelming!

Missworry92 · 12/07/2020 22:09

@Sunshinegirl82 you are a lifesaver! Thank you, will have a look now :)

I recommend the Facebook page car safety U.K. - even if you just read the long pinned post.

Definitely not that car seat.

@Lockdownseperation thank you!

I concur with the others. Definitely not a good seat.

If money is an issue I'd recommend a Joie juva (about £40) as the infant seat and that will give yourself time to save up for the next stage seat.

Another benefit of getting a dedicated infant seat is that you can see what centile your baby is on. A child high on either the weight or height centile will need a carseat which harnesses to 25kg. The majority only harness to 18kg.

I've just had a quick look and if you go through the videos there is an "Expectant Parent Workshop" which should give you a good intro! Good luck!

Missworry92 · 12/07/2020 22:39

Thank you ladies! I'm already watching these videos, massive help, thank you so much!!

@bananallamas the Joie 360 rear faces to 18kg not 25kg
