I'm not sure any of that is recommended during pregnancy. I stopped all hair treatments once I found I was pregnant. But I think it's up to everyone to decide their own risk. Tell your hairdresser as they might be able to better products for you.

I got a full head of highlights in early pregnancy with no issues, albeit a long time ago so advice might've changed. I figured it's on your hair and doesn't touch the scalp so it's fine, but someone else might come along and say differently. Your hairdresser will know if it's OK or not, but I reckon it's fine.

I got my highlights done all through pregnancy - I was told it's fine and proper dye is more of an issue

Raindancer411 · 11/07/2020 04:02

Being pregnant can make you more sensitive to things so I think it's usually taken to not her treatments in pregnancy

Amichelle84 · 11/07/2020 05:26

I had my highlights done in early pregnancy.

FirstTimeMama36 · 11/07/2020 07:40

I'm naturally brown haired but have it dyed blonde. I've had my roots done twice during the pregnancy and I've been fine. I'm 14+5 weeks now and my hairdresser has known from the start. Not sure about the toner though so could be worth asking

I don’t think there is a risk of hair colour - the risk of Covid is likely greater

Orchidflower1 · 11/07/2020 08:32

I think highlights are ok as they don’t actually touch your scalp. As a pp said the risk of spending a long time in the chair at the salon is a greater risk from Covid.

somewomenneedaslap · 11/07/2020 08:36

I had my hair coloured throughout all three of my pregnancies with no issues.

EithneBlue · 11/07/2020 09:11

I asked my midwife this at booking in and was told it is fine to get your hair dyed: as always make sure you allergy test as pregnancy hormones can alter your reaction to some things.

lockdownparty · 11/07/2020 09:13

It's fine to have your hair coloured / bleached.

As pp have said your skin could be more sensitive but it won't harm your baby.

It's absolutely fine.

You might just be a little more sensitive, so get a patch test done.

PoodlesAreMySpiritAnimal · 11/07/2020 14:25

NHS advice is that it’s fine to get your hair coloured during pregnancy:
www.nhs.uk/common-health-questions/pregnancy/is-it-safe-to-use-hair-dye-when-i-am-pregnant-or-breastfeeding/

Some ladies wait until 12 weeks pregnant if they want to be extra careful.
I personally have had an all over hair colour done regularly since becoming pregnant. I haven’t found that I’m more sensitive to the colour but I did go in for a patch test for my first colour after lockdown just to be sure.

bubblesforlife · 11/07/2020 14:37

Hi there, I just booked in my hair this week and I’m just 10 weeks pregnant. I’ll be 12+ 3 when I get my hair done. I went for a consultation, told them I was pregnant and they saw no issues with it.
The last time I got my hair done it was done by a heavily pregnant lady, so depending on the products they use, it may impact. I’m going to Toni was Guy, their products are fine to use while pregnant I’ve been told (repeatedly because I keep asking).

Viletta · 11/07/2020 14:43

Highlights should be fine as they don't touch the scalp. Check out more natural treatments like Aveda and ask to make sure you are in a well ventilated room. I diy my roots every 6 weeks and make sure the solution stays on for minimum time. Albeit I waited for 12w when placenta is developed to start.
