Increased movements, what to do?

38+5 and am never very confident with movements. My midwife asked if I was having 'good' movements on Weds and I said I don't really know, my baby seems to have no real pattern. Some days she is more active and others she can be quite quiet.

Tonight for about three hours she's been active, which is unusual. Feels like she is head butting my cervix but I'm getting little kicks and punches too. Normally it's more wriggling and stretching I can feel.

I have rung the unit and they said increased movements aren't as much of a worry usually but if I'm not happy go in, or if I just feel something is wrong.

I just don't know. It's probably me and how my brain works. It's taken us a lot to get here, and I'm so close to the end (booked for a section next week). Also worrying about how tired my DH is and that he's meant to be in work at 6am. Which is stupid, because I shouldn't think of things like that, but the hospital is an hour away. She has settled down a bit now. But I just feel unsure. I'm predicting a quiet day for her tomorrow which will undoubtedly make me worry a lot Sad

What would you do?

For peace of mind I'd go in! X

Go and get checked, you're clearly concerned, it's better to go and not have needed to be there than need to be there and not go. I'm sure your DH will agree!

I'd go in. Any change should be checked. My friend had this at around the same gestation. Baby suddenly moving lots and not stopping. She was distressed.

You're unsure, so if you can it would be a good idea to get checked out. They really won't mind- this is you listening to your body and your baby, which is exactly what you're supposed to do.

I would still get checked out, increased movement is not normal movement. Better to be safe then sorry!
