Hi! I am :) 34 weeks and have Crohn’s disease! Had a flare at 26 weeks so have been monitored weekly since and they continued my immunosuppressants up to 30 weeks... but on the whole feeling well :) anything in particular you were wondering? I’m elective section at 39w x

Me also. Now 33/40 with section booked for 39/40.

Have been well and stopped Humira at 28 weeks

I am only 7 weeks pregnant with my 2nd child. I spoke to my consultants before we started trying and got the go ahead and the plan was to stop my humira. Just before I found out I was pregnant I started flaring bad and I'm now on a course of steroids and have to continue humira. I honestly think I'm overwhelmed by it all and worried the medication will harm the baby. Will I get more check ups with this pregnancy? I had an early scan yesterday and we seen the heartbeat so that has calmed me down x

Does it mean il mostly likely need a section too? I had a bad experience with me last so wanted to try VBAC. I was only diagnosed with UC in March so new to this aswell x

Humira is felt to be safe to continue (and steroids). I was planning on carrying on with Humira, but given that I have been well controlled, coronavirus tipped the balance in favour of stopping it in the 3rd trimester (but I’d have carried it on otherwise)

Section wise - mine is personal choice based on the fact that I’m really concerned about the longer term implications of a severe tear. Has to be balance against the possibility of having what is potentially major surgery with risk of creating adhesions which could be problematic in the future.

You should be obstetric led and should have additional growth scans.
Obs will be able to discuss the delivery options with you.

Thank you so much for taking the time to reply. All the best for the next few weeks! 😊 I'm on humira for a skin condition so gastro have jumped on board to keep me on it. I'm off shielding, work work maybe be better for my mind lol x

I was only diagnosed last year and the first thing I told my consultant was ... the soonest I can have a baby the better so I got the thumbs up in November (to be fair I was 4 weeks pregnant already but didn’t know when she gave me the thumbs up lol!) my immunosuppressants havent impacted the baby or growth and I am consultant led with scans every 3 weeks - my consultant said... word for word “if you were my wife I would be telling u to have a section” so that was a clear easy decision for me! I think the risk of damage or tearing down there when things are already a bit complicated with crohns outweighed the normal section risk!

Connell1991 · 11/07/2020 22:59

Baby was definitely meant to be! Good luck for the exciting times ahead. I was consultant led with my 1st due to high blood pressure and was very well looked after so I'm hoping for the same this time now I've a few extra health issues. My doctor has also referred me for an earlier booking appointment and scan as in NI it can be up to 14 weeks before the dating scan x

26 weeks with crohns! Had a couple of flares but when I do I just eat beige! I know it's not nutritional for the baby but I'd be making it worse adding to the inflammation and my body just not healing
Sometime you gotta do what you gotta do!
