My DC has sensitive skin and occasional eczema

We’ve been putting children’s sun cream on her face and arms in the hot weather but have trouble getting it off again - I don’t want to use lots of drying soaps, but water alone doesn’t work, and her skin breaks out.

Has anyone got any bright ideas as to how to get waterproof SPF off babies and young children?

How old is she? It's easier to keep little ones in the shade until they start moving around.

A flannel and a bit of sensitive bubble bath? I always give mine a decent scrub in the bath if they've had suncream on - prone to mild eczema too but it's the lesser of two evils as far as I'm concerned.

Cover them up as much as possible and keep in the shade as a PP has said. Aveeno and a natural soap might work best to get it off.

I have same problem.. have been using some almond oil to wipe it off. Still doesn't get it all off properly but gentler than soap and scrubbing !

@andtellyouofmydreaming the almond oil is a good idea thank you, I will try that - generally we try to avoid soap of any kind as much as possible

Suncream is designed to not come off easily in water to offer protection in water and so you don't easily wash it off unintentionally.
For anything that isn't water soluble you need either an emulsifier (e.g. Soap) or something that is fat based like oils. I don't know how well it works on babies with sensitive skin but I find aqueous cream works well as a soap when my skin is being sensitive.

Hiya,

Have you been to the doctors about her sensitive skin? You can get cream that doubles up as soap for bath time. You can also have special bubble bath. I know it sounds ridiculous too but you can also use head and shoulders as a shampoo and a soap as it doesn't irritate the skin as much- obviously that depends on ages etc.

I have extremely sensitive skin with psoriasis, it's a real pain so I feel for her. Xx
