Positive ELCS stories please?

Hello,

After seeing the consultant today I have been booked in for an ELCS after developing severe tokophobia. The consultant agreed that an ELCS would be better due to this alongside some underlying complications I have had in pregnancy too, but as I know is his job, proceeded to go through all the risks that a Csection carries compared to a vaginal delivery and it has scared me somehwat.

I'm just wondering if any lovely ladies could share with me some positive ELCS stories they have had, and also whether anyone recommends any good books to try? I have completed the hypnobirthing course but it seems very weighted on vaginal deliveries.

Thanks so much

Watching as I'd also like to hear some too ☺️

I absolutely loved every minute of my planned section. Was calm, controlled and speedy.

I'd a ELCS after a vaginal birth with forceps with my first.

The CS was so calm & we were well looked after & the staff were great at keeping me calm. I was out the next day vs a 2 night stay with my first. Recovery was so much easier.

I was well prepared and there are loads of threads on here with great tips on recovery. I think this really helped as I knew what to expect. The vast majority of c sections do seem to go smoothly but I also read up on people who had more difficult recoveries and what to expect. It wasn't pain free but was more than manageable with just paracetamol.

I think my first birth was so long, I was tired and hadn't maybe read up on assisted deliveries I was completely thrown as I focused on hypnobirthing & drug free births, I also had mental recovery as well as physical to deal with. I hope that makes sense?

If we were to have a third, I would definitely have another CS. My husband was against me having a CS but my body my choice and now he has said it was a much better experience all round he doesn't even know why he was so against it in the first place!

Loved my c section!

Had my 38 week appointment discovered baby was breech. Had an ECV a few days later and baby wouldn't turn so booked in for C section.

I've never had any surgery before so was really nervous. The surgeon came round and reassured me, anaesthetist came and talked me through what she was going to do. Had anti sickness on standby for me as well.

They asked if I wanted any specific music played during. Although it wasn't requested or even mentioned our first dance song came on as baby was placed on my chest.

Husband was with me the entire time, anaesthetist talked me through every step of the surgery. Midwife was amazing and so reassuring.

Baby girl born perfectly and safely.

I had skin to skin as did my husband. Breastfeeding was established quickly with the midwife helping.

8 weeks later I'm pretty much back to myself. Scar is healing really nicely, I did have a minor infection which was picked up at my 5 day post natal check. Easily resolved with short course of antibiotics.

If we are lucky enough to have another baby I will request a c section again. Honestly the most positive experience Smile
