Hi!
I got my BFP last week, just getting over the shock of it....we hoped to try for a baby next year so slightly earlier than anticipated! We are very happy, just feeling slightly less prepared then I hoped to be at this point. I am 5+5 today.

Could you let me know your recommendations for the best apps and books to purchase? I have heard of “what to expect when your expecting” is this a good one? Also any dad specific books/apps? DH is a bit overwhelmed so would like to have something for him too 😊

Thanks!

Hi 👋 I’m a FTM too we found out 2 weeks ago and am only 6 weeks now - just got past the initial shock and getting more exited now :) I’ve read ‘how to grow a baby and push it out 😅’ by Clemmie Hooper - was recommended on amazon and liked that it was down to earth and written by a UK midwife x

Also I’ve got the bounty and pregnancy + apps which I just screenshot little bits of info from and send to my other half - don’t think he would download them just incase someone saw/ he uses his phone for work :)

Congrats! Yes it is so exciting! I’m trying to stop my DH buying baby clothes every time we are at the shops Grin thank you for the recommendations, I will look them up! Do you have many symptoms right now? I feel like I’m constantly overthinking every tiny feeling as I don’t know what to expect!

My dh found 'The expectant dad's handbook' by Dean Beaumont good, it was actually recommended to him by a friend. Said friend had been given a few books when his wife was pregnant and found that one the best: not patronising and not 'laddish' and jokey (for want of a better description). That said, baby is not here yet, so he hasn't been able to put most of it in to practice yet Smile

@Unicornbaker a few symptoms - feeling very tired, sore boobs and needing to pee a lot more than usual! How about you?

Apps I loved Ovia (you get a daily email with how your baby is developing) and pregnancy+

For books I read Your Baby Your Birth and loved it. DH read it too.

Expecting better is a good book, if you have a kindle I got it for 99p. It's written by an American economist and talks about all the things we are told not to do/to do, and she analyses the reasons why, and gives you educated answers on things like caffeine and alcohol intake and makes you feel much more assured about things. It's an easy read and you can skip chapters that don't apply to you. I was told by my midwife the only book you need is the one they gave me at my first appointment, im in Scotland and its called ready steady baby and its been really good and easy reading also. Hope this helps 😊
