40+4 weeks pregnant and two failed sweeps! Has anyone had the same and given birth without induction?

Anyone here had two failed sweeps but still gone on to have a natural labour without the need for an induction?

I’m 40+4 today and had my second sweep and week after my first and my midwife said my cervix is still tightly closed and far back! 😞 She also said my bump is very high and hasn’t dropped yet. I cant help but feel a bit let down considering a few weeks ago I was having strong period type pains and thought it wouldn’t be long! I’m still having strong pelvic pain, my muscles hurt, feel like I’m being stabbed in my vagina but it’s making no difference. I’ve know this isn’t proven to work but I’ve tried pineapple, sex, raspberry leaf tea, bouncing on my birth ball, clary sage oil in my bath, nipple stimulation (all given the go ahead by midwife) and still nothing...

Waiting for a call for an induction but I really don’t want to be induced. Has anyone been like this and spontaneously gone into labour before induction??? I’d like to hear some stories. I know babies come out when they’re ready I am just in a lot of pain! 🥺

I had two sweeps and went a full week over and then had a totally natural birth in a birthing pool. The dates are bit flexible as they do from prior dates so try not to worry. My hospital did more sweeps than others as some don’t over any til you’re a week past so they told me not to expect too much anyway. Hope that helps!

I had two sweeps at 39+5 and 40+1 which didn't appear to do anything and I went onto have DD at 40+7.

This time round I won't even be offered a sweep until 40+8 as that's when I'm next seeing a midwife. Really hope I don't make that appointment.

I gave birth to my first at 40+8 with no induction and no sweeps.

Oh and his head was never engaged before labour which is the reason I was never offered a sweep (don't think I'd take one anyway tbh)

I had two sweeps which did nothing, had an induction booked for 42wks but eventually went into labour at 41+4 & DD was naturally born the following day.
The birth was a whole other story but didn't need an induction.

I had 2 sweeps which were unsuccessful and was booked for an induction at 42 weeks. My little one decided he didnt want to be induced and I went into labour the night before and gave birth on my induction date!

Two sweeps and ended up going into natural labour early hours of the day of planned induction (42 weeks)

I had 2 sweeps and went all the way to 40+11 before going into labour after a third sweep. I felt comfortable waiting it out a little further before being induced for a number of reasons, and my amazing midwife supported me in that decision. He's still as headstrong and independent as a toddler Grin

I’m currently 40+8 and hoping I can avoid induction too!
I had an appt at 40+4 - head not engaged.
At 40+6 head was engaged and had a failed sweep.
I now have a balloon induction booked for 40+12, and then peasant induction booked for 40+13 if needed.
Still lots of time for your labour to start spontaneously!
