Hi ladies, I'm 33 weeks with my first pregnancy and have my next appointment with the consultant next week. At my first appointment with him he suggest I am induced on my due date. Has anyone else had this suggested to them? I'm unsure as what to do, I'll obviously ask him more questions regarding it next week, but was wondering what people's thoughts were and if they were told this too. Thank you so much 😊

Induction and c-sections are different and both personal choices. I just figured I’d flag that if they/you didn’t want the pregnancy to go beyond your due date you can ask for a csection if that’s your preference.

As I said it would be mine (unlikely as DH says he can’t face IVF again)

I have heard of different areas having different policies on this. When I looked into it I found no evidence of IVF alone being a risk factor. What you need to remember is that IVF pregnancies as a whole have a much higher average age of mother, so any study that finds risk factors for anything to do with IVF needs to be compared to non ivf pregnancies of a same average age - not compared to just all pregnacies/ births.

But also don't just trust random people (i.e me!) messaging on a forum - definitely look for the research yourself.

Also remember that it's actually your decision - it doesn't matter if your consultant or midwife tells you they 'won't let you go over'. I'm not saying that I would ever ever go against medical advise if my midwife said I'd need to be induced at 40 weeks if they gave me a medical reason. But for me, being an IVF pregnancy isn't a medical reason. However, you, and others @ might look at the evidence and feel otherwise. You need to do whatever is right for you.
