When to ring doctors/midwife after positive test?

Should I ring the midwife directly? Also I'm only 5 weeks...should I do it now or wait 2 more weeks...(inform them)..

I’d call now (the midwife directly). I left it to week 8 and ended up having my scan at week 14 as they were so busy! A bit annoying as it meant a couple of tests couldn’t be done

I told a doctor straight away. That way there is plenty of time to get the right dates for appointments.

You need to find out the system for your area. Every place does it slightly differently.

I called quite early and I think she booked me in around 8 weeks for my first app so I'd call now and then it's up to them when they want to first see you.

Good luck with everything Smile

Every area is different. My area midwife operates out of the children’s centres so no need to call GP but they also refuse to book you in until 8 weeks in case of early loss.

It’s worth asking your go surgery if the midwives operate from there or the hospital and if you have to self refer to them

Google your hospital + maternity referral.
A lot of the time you can self refer directly and no need to involve GP.

I phoned my GP surgery reception and asked what to do - she gave me the number to contact maternity services directly. I found out when I was 7ish weeks I had my booking appointment around 10 days later. Give them a call! They'll ask you to contact them at a later date if needed.

Every area has its own system. In mine, you're advised to call the GP surgery around 5/6 weeks and then the receptionist just gives you the number to self refer to the midwives.
I did that and got a date for my booking in appointment for when I was over 9 weeks.
