Waters gone at 34 weeks

Hello,
Wondering if anyone has any similar experiences...
My waters went in the night and I was called in to hospital urgently because of risk of cord prolapse. Baby has been transverse/oblique.
On arrival, head was still in my hip so given steroids for baby lungs and told csection likely if contractions began but they haven't...
Just been scanned again and baby now head down so they think I will go into natural labour.
I had just agreed ELCS with consultant for 39 weeks due to two retained placentas and traumatic aftermath.
Know this is quite a particular situation to me but interested to know, would you still push for csection or chance a natural birth?
Thanks for reading

Honestly, if it were me I would have a C-Section.
Good luck with whatever you pick, I hope your delivery goes well and your baby is healthy.

I'm 34 weeks tomorrow and also due to have an ELCS at 39 weeks. If this was me, I would still opt for the section.
Hope everything goes OK!

Thank you for replying 😊 That's what my gut feeling is telling me! They are definitely trying to sway me towards natural and bigging up the csection risks (although know wouldn't be walk in the park) My mindset was much calmer with the csection option...

I would listen to the medical professionals over people on Mumsnet, unless you’re really certain yourself that you’d like a c-section.

Ask the doctors why they’re pushing for a vaginal birth, what are the pros and cons of both, and decide for yourself. Ultimately as long as you have all the information from the doctors, you know what is best for you and your baby

Thanks @Melbs6
Got the pros and cons from drs and they were very much of the opinion that we won't know if right decision until after. They were very sympathetic about having to make a decision like this so valuable opinions of mums in similar situation with experience are also comforting to hear.

Lots of pros and cons to consider, you just need to try and decide what’s right for you. Do be aware that they won’t want to do an elective CS for you before 37 weeks, and if you do go into labour sometimes preterm labour can be pretty quick. So perhaps have a think and a talk through that scenario - rap if already nearly fully dilated it may be better to go with vaginal delivery as CS would have higher risks. I’m sure they’ve already talked to you about baby’s breathing, given you some steroids, and also gone through things that can be done to help with retained placenta risk/avoiding those complications. Good luck with your decision and hopefully baby wants to sit tight for another few weeks!

Thanks very much for your reply @TenThousandSpoons
Really helpful. I've had the steroids and on antibiotics and everyone keen to keep baby in as long as poss which makes sense.
The situation does keep changing though as baby now back to transverse and going home to monitor is now more risky due to cord prolapse possibility...so section or induction may be on cards again as nothing happening naturally since waters broke. These babies do like to keep us guessing 👶🤔
