This morning, while I was still in bed, I felt something "turning" in my belly. I put my hand on my belly expecting to feel some kicks, but instead I felt an egg-sized hard lump slightly to the left side. I freaked out because it was a visibly obvious deformation! It was also quite hard. It lasted about 10 seconds or so then slowly went back down, followed by a kick.

I don't think it's braxton hicks as I felt no pain or discomfort at all.

What could it be? I know babies in third trimester can do weird poses inside that causes belly to bulge like that, but isn'n it a little early for me? Confused

I think 18 weeks is sort of normal to feel the first movements - but yeah thinking about the size of baby it feels like that was quite an intense one! Maybe your uterus is just REALLY far forward?! Are you very slim?

No not too early. I think I started getting movements at 18 weeks. I think people expect sudden kicks but usually it’s more of a slow push out when they stretch. So you get hands and feet pushing in any direction. You’ve probably got an active one. DS1 was very active in the womb and is also very active out of it as a toddler and child.

@redjusplease yes I am quite slim and don't have much fat around the bellt, would this make a difference?

@AppaDappa I felt the first movements at 15 weeks actually! :D Doctor also said the baby was very active but I never expected such a small baby to be that strong LOL

I think sometimes they "stretch out" in quite drastic ways. Sounds normal based on my experienced but mention to MW over phone if you feel freaked out?

I'm not any sort of expert; I guess my instinct is just that if there's not much fat between your uterus and the outside, then any movement in there might look more dramatic...?

I've got a fair bit of belly fat and often I could feel the movements internally but they weren't as visible from the outside as you describe yours as being; maybe the fat sort of masks it iyswim?

I had some very similar experiences around this time OP! I found the baby almost seemed to wriggle into very odd and uncomfortable positions with sticking out lumps that then disappeared when it moved. Once my bump popped around 20 weeks or so it seemed to ease off Smile
