I'm coming up to 28 weeks and have hardly bought anything for baby. It still doesn't feel real and so buying baby stuff feels strange.

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

I felt the same right up until the first cry from twin A Grin it was more of a shock that a real life baby(/ies) was here than that instant love feeling.

I'm 27 weeks and got pretty much everything we need, but I still stare at everything and think 'really???'
I look at my belly and think 'really???'
I still can't believe I'm pregnant and I'm going to be a mommy!
I don't think I'll believe it until my lil bundle is plonked on my chest once I've had him!
You're not alone with how you feel! It's totally normal 🥰
I would say you need to consider buying things though! Your baby will be here before you know it! 😬

kate909 · 30/06/2020 20:13

Yes think I will be the same. It will be a shock when she's here and I'm actually holding her!

Know exactly what you mean. My dd is nearly one and we still go round saying 'can you believe we've actually had a baby?!"Grin

I'm pregnant with DC2 and honestly I don't think it truly feels real until baby is born.

When I was pregnant with DC1, it was as if I knew in theory that I was having a baby, but it hadn't properly sunk in. Even when we were buying baby things and getting the room ready, it was exciting but on a kind of theoretical level. Then actually having him was a big shock to the system Grin

Maybe it's such a huge momentous thing - bringing a new life into the world - that you can't fully get your head around it until it happens?

I feel the same second time around, too, so I don't think it's a FTM thing.

I also remember visiting nurseries when pregnant with DC1 and feeling like a fraud!

angber · 30/06/2020 20:22

I didn't believe my son was real until I gave birth. Towards the end of my pregnancy my cousin not so politely informed me that I was weird for not buying stuff so I bought the essentials but there wasn't much heart in it. I couldn't wrap my head around the fact that he was real and about to arrive in the world.

DJBebe · 30/06/2020 20:23

I am 27 weeks and i didn't get anything yet..I've been awaiting to get to the 7 mth mark to start buying. I'm super excited but still cannot believe it's happening.

kate909 · 30/06/2020 20:30

It's nice to know I'm not alone feeling like this! I should maybe start buying a few things though 😂

I was like that lol....in fact I would go so far as to say I was in total and utter denial. Despite having a sizeable bump and quite clearly being pregnant the idea that I might have a baby was an absolute alien concept 😂
My baby is now nearly three..... I still look at her in disbelief sometimes but that's mainly because she's just threatened to turn me into a frog 🐸

whitetoblerone · 30/06/2020 20:36

My DS is almost 2 and I still can't quite believe he's mine 🤷🏽‍♀️😂

Watto1 · 30/06/2020 20:41

It still didn’t feel real for me even after I had given birth. I couldn’t believe that the baby I was holding was the baby I had carried for 9 months. It was so unreal.
