How much formula/how many nappies do you get through with a newborn?

Hi!

First time mum here, I’m due August and just wanting to plan our finances and make sure we’re stocked up a bit before baby arrives.

How long roughly does a tub of formula last if you exclusively formula feed? And how many nappies do you go through in a day roughly at the start?

I want to stock up on enough to last us a couple of weeks without having to take trips to the shops as my OH doesn’t drive and we’re not close by any supermarkets so just want to be prepared ☺️

Any other advice would be much welcomed too!

Formula about 1 tub every 6 days if I remember correctly, maybe a bit less in the very early days. Nappies depends if you are super conscientious and change after every feed or if you are less bothered, I'm on number 3 so will probably use 6-8 a day but I think if you google it they say 10. Dont buy too many nappies as they can change sizes quickly and you dont know what weight they'll be and therefore what size you'll need to start.

My 3 week old goes through about 1 and 1/2 tubs of formula a week and about 6-8 nappies a day.

Hope that helps

You change them about once every 4 hours, more often if they poo in between. So 6-8 sounds fine to me. How could you go through 10?

We got through about 12 pampers per day at the beginning...much more than people told me..but might be just me..she was BF, so no idea about the formula...

Consider washable nappies and wipes - if you have a few then no chance of running out, you won't need to go to the shops, just wash and use again. We live a good 40m walk from the nearest shop, so it was really helpful not to have to go out (again no car), aside from which no room for nappies and shopping under the pram (also a consideration throwaway ones are SO bulky to store)

No idea about formula, but nappies 8-10 a day in the beginning. Once they're out of newborn size, you could consider washable nappies - there's initial outlay, and your water/electricity bills will be a bit higher, but it's a big saving in the long run.

About 12 nappies a day for mine and about 1.5 tubs of formula (But I am not being very economical with it and keep wasting a ton....).

My LO is currently a month old and I have no advice but my midwife did say that formula fed babies get through more nappies than breast fed. I don't think I could even comprehend using machine washable at the minute. So I think if you are considering this maybe see what your newborn is like and how much spare time you might have before you invest any money in these.

I have found the Tommy Tippee Perfect Prep machine quite useful for making bottles up. They are a bit pricey (like £90) but you can get them second hand.

Sorry that was 1.5 tubs of formula a week!
