In one of the pregnancy books I'm reading they recommend putting together a self-care box of treats for after the birth...I think this is a great idea!

So if anyone has any recommendations for self care treats or wonder products that give you a bit of a pick-me-up or make you feel great then please share!

That's a lovely idea. Epsom salts and an essential oil for a bath are supposed to be nice for after birth, they're on my list! I will be keeping an eye on this thread to see what other wonders people recommend 😄

I've been using skin care to make myself feel luxurious for the past year and would highly recommend it! Just takes 10 mins a day, but I feel lovely after.

I do a Korean skin care routine
-cleanser (cetaphil)

  • exfoliator twice a week (a chemical peel one from Korea, but Nip+Fab do a good one too)
  • toner (Dr Jart)
  • hyaluronic acid serum
  • eye cream (Khiel avocado)
  • moisturiser (currently Dr Jart, but switching to retinol post birth)
  • Korean sheet mask on a Sunday night

Sounds like loads and will be really time consuming, but honestly it only takes 10 mins and the difference to my skin is amazing!

I really struggled with the concept of self care, but after years of anxiety and some therapy, I finally get it and it really does make a big difference and I think little things like skin care, or taking the time to do your nails, can help give you a sense of self when for the other 23 hours and 50 mins a day you've become Mum!

I totally agree about skincare, for me I also spent 10 minutes each day making sure I was really looking after my skin it must've worked because everybody always said I looked very freshfaced even when I had had two or three hours sleep ha ha.

I would use a nice balm cleanser, the pixie tonic is good for exfoliating it's a really big bottle and lasts quite awhile, a vit c serum and a moisturiser. Also make sure you wear suncream when you go for walks with the pram.

Maybe also a trashy romance novel on your kindle for all the feeds

@Nelbert19 Sounds great, I can imagine you'd feel lovely after that. I think it's so important to make time for yourself after the birth and do little things that make yourself feel good or just feel like yourself again!

Any recommendations for quick multipurpose make-up products or anything to make you feel great in less time always appreciated!

@doadeer I'm a fan of Pixie tonic too, any recommendations on a vitamin c serum?

I know you weren't asking me but in the early newborn days I loved Mac Strobe cream as a base under foundation - makes you look glowing. I'd get a good consealer to dab on and a nice lip balm but not with colour as you kiss your baby so much!

I like the mac bronzer and highlight too actually

Vit C -

The Oskia capsules are a DELIGHT but pricey.

They also do a nice vit c serum

La Roche Posay (avail in superdrug) do a good serum too

Love this idea!

I splurge on hydra facials every month, pricey yes but I don't smoke and rarely drink (never drink now I'm pregnant) and I must say they've made such a big difference in my skin. My therapist told me to always wear an SPF on my face every day and have been doing so for a number of months and must say, I can see a difference! Hyaluronic acid is a must too! The Ordinary do a fab one at £6!

My ultimate weapon was natural look eyelash extensions but they aren't possible anymore! So maybe a good mascara..!

But I really did find I looked so much better in the day when I looked after my skin.

I'd also get a nice hydrating most - Jordan Samuel do a good one. Their Cleanser is also lovely

Get some 'foot masks' off Amazon - they are a bit like plastic bags filled with cream, but my god they are so nice! Put your feet in, stick the tabs down so they stay on securely and put your feet up - in fact they are a great way of forcing yourself to put your feet up for a bit! I'd thoroughly recommend leaving a pack in the fridge for the heat waves - instant relief.

Lola lashes. Magnetic falsies that make you appear far less exhausted and are quicker than putting a face of make up on but make you feel as good - if you’re like me and don’t like stepping out the house without a bit of something on.

I really like the Summer Fridays masks available at Cult Beauty and Selfridges.
