Constantly thirsty

Hi guys,

Just wondered how other people are coping with constant thirst? I’m 11+4 and I feel like I’m drinking all day but nothing clenches my first. I drink a mix of water, squash, Capri-sun (my new fave), chocolate milkshake and Pepsi and whatever else I fancy!

Hope everyone is doing okay too!

:)
Xx

I have had this basically throughout and been drinking way more! 21 weeks now and still thirsty a lot of the time. It’s such a cruel irony that as I need to drink more my bladder capacity seems to be infinitely reduced 😭 I hear that you need to drink plenty during pregnancy and bear in mind it’s been warm as well!!

I had this and has got better - I only take one glass of water to bed now rather than 2! I’m 23 weeks

Hi @MrsJamieLWeir

Yes! I'm 12+1 and I've had an insatiable thirst for weeks and nothing seems to quench it.

I used to love tea and coffee, so got a load of decaf in but I've now almost completely gone off hot drinks. I'm going through ice like a machine as I really feel the need for my drinks to be ice cold at the moment (never used to bother me much before).
I've been drinking water, fruit juice, squash and the odd can of fizzy drink which I usually stay clear of, but I had a bit of a craving for Rubicon so treated myself.

@trufflemama literally could not have described myself better! I’ve gone off tea, can’t even look at it, fancied a hot chocolate when I woke up from my nap today, first hot drink in 12 weeks and my god it was good!!

I completely relate about drinks being cold, maybe it’s the heat as well? Such a vicious circle though, drinking so much more so constantly needing the toilet 🙈🙈

So useful to know it’s a common symptom! Xxx

Of course it could be nothing but excessive thirst can also be a sign of gestational diabetes. I would advise speaking to your midwife about it as they may want to at least check your urine for excess sugar.
