Glucose tolerance test results

I had the glucose blood test done last Wednesday but it wasn't a proper one because of corona. Was just asked to fast from 10pm the night before and have one blood test at 9am Wednesday morning.

Haven't heard anything since but I have a midwife appointment next Friday so i assumed I'd get the results then. But I got a call this morning from the hospital to see if I was still attending my antenatal consultant appointment on Monday...i wasn't aware I had an appointment. I asked what it was for but they wouldn't say and said I probably just didn't receive the letter yet. Now I'm thinking it's to do with the test results. Does anyone know if this is normal?. Getting worried now.

They would usually call you straight away if your results weren't normal as they would want to book you in to see the diabetic consultants asap I had gestational diabetes and got notified by phone pretty quick if your results are normally they will tell you at your next midwife appointment that there was nothing wrong well that's what happened for meSmile

I had mine in Wednesday too. I was told I'd here by Thursday 5pm if anything showed up and I'd be asked to come back in to see them. If you didn't hear anything then it was good news.

Just to offer another side to the coin, last Weds (17/6) I had my GD blood test (again, just the HBA1C — not the proper sugary drink and wait two hours one) and went away. Didn’t hear anything from midwife/consultant.
This week, I had a growth scan and consultant booked for Thursday (25/6) so I went along and was initially told by a midwife that my blood results had been fine and that I needed another HBA1C next week to check again. Then the consultant came in and said actually they’d been high and I was being referred to the diabetes team so to tell the receptionist to book an appointment with them. Receptionist couldn’t get through to them, said someone from the diabetes team would be in touch with me to arrange and I’ve since heard nothing!

I know it’s a serious condition, so it’s a fad concerning that it’ll likely be two weeks since my supposed high blood test for me to even be arranging to see the diabetes team... sigh.

Anyway, my point is, I’m not sure what NHS trust you’re with, but I think a lot of the “usual” systems are either getting delayed or changed beyond recognition thanks to COVID. If you’re at all concerned or worried then my advice would be to ring the midwives and ask them to look at your results while you’re on the phone. At least it’ll make you feel proactive!
