Not really feeling anything at 17 weeks pregnant

I’ve got to 17 weeks and should be feeling excited but I am worrying that I don’t seem to have any pregnancy symptoms really. The only thing I still have from the 1st trimester is not wanting to eat pasta.

I keep reading things saying about feeling movement or flutters but I haven’t felt that. Is it normal to not feel much?

Thanks

Try not to compare yourself too much with others. I had no flutters or movements at all till i was over 22 weeks.
I also found 16-24 weeks(ish) was when most of my symptoms vanished....i didn't have a massive bump then and just generally didn't feel very pregnant.

I'm 33 weeks now. Very pregnant, very uncomfortable and lots of unwelcome symptoms! There's a reason why most people say the second trimester is the best!

If you have an anterior placenta you may not feel anything for a few weeks. I thought I was 12 weeks pregnant and found (at the scan) that I was 20 weeks and hadn’t had flutters or kicks I could feel for that reason.

Have you had your 16 week midwife appointment? They should have been clear about when you may feel movements - it’s still early.

Piggle21 · 24/06/2020 17:02

Seeing the midwife a week on Friday. So difficult to know what to expect when you read online and it says you should have flutters around now. Because we had so many problems getting pregnant we haven’t told anyone so I can’t speak to my mum friends to ask them.

Wish there were more scans just so you could be sure things were ok.

Thank you all for your advice it makes things so much easier to hear from others in this position 😊

Not sure what you’ve been reading but the NHS says:

When you'll feel your baby move

You should start to feel your baby move between around 16 and 24 weeks of pregnancy. If this is your first baby, you might not feel movements until after 20 weeks.

Dollywilde · 24/06/2020 17:15

First baby for me, didn’t feel anything movement wise until 21 weeks. I’m now 33 weeks and it’s regularly doing the can-can so don’t worry, 16 weeks is still super early. I didn’t have many symptoms either at that stage and felt a bit fraudulent! I have about a million selfies from around then when I tried to convince myself I had a bump (I didn’t really, not an obvious one at least).

It all did come but it was a strange time, so you have my sympathies! 12 weeks to 20 weeks absolutely dragged for me. Try not to worry. We had issues getting pregnant too, I poured a lot of my energies between the 12 and 20 week scans into making lists of things I’d buy/do/organise after the 20 week scan Smile

Dollywilde · 24/06/2020 17:15

Sorry *17 weeks not 16 Smile

I’m 18 weeks with my second and I haven’t felt huge amounts. I think I have felt something, but I wouldn’t want to put money in it!
My symptoms have basically disappeared as well.

Piggle21 · 24/06/2020 17:28

Thank you - I thought after the 12 weeks I would lose some of my anxiety but actually this time in between the scans is just as hard!

@Piggle21 it is hard. I gave in and booked a private scan at 17 weeks as I felt so anxious but you're already there now and only a few weeks till your next scan!

Piggle21 · 24/06/2020 18:03

@sel2223 I have done the same now and booked an early scan - hoping it will ease my anxiety!

Im 23 weeks and only just feeling definite movements, I had some from 20 weeks where I was unsure if it was baby or not, I had my anatomy scan at 19+4 and baby was going crazy and I couldn’t feel a thing.
