I ahd a MW led delivery for my second baby, my first was also an early induction due to pre-eclampsia and IUGR. The criteria for MW led was the same as home birth. So it can be arranged... but I had plenty of extra scans to monitor blood flow to the placenta etc, so you may need to request these? Depends on area I expect.

have a look at the homebirth.org website-as they say nobody can make you deliver in a hospital (fully appreciate the childcare issues as am expecting no 4 and although dh will be around, have nobody local to care for our 3 as 2 are sn and can't go just anywhere).

Do also remember though that you NEED to have abckup plans, JIC- your bp could raise up, or other factors- I couldn't have a homebirth for ds3 for completely ridiculous farcical reasons (electric cuts in my village!)- you can never know for sure. And remember ythat you need somewhere for your LO to go should you need a mid labour transfer,, it can happen.

best wishes with the pregnancy and labour X

I had pre-eclampsia and consultant made it very clear they wanted me in hospital the next time round, but mine was severe (HELLP syndrome, ds born at 34 weeks by cs). If you are under a consultant I would have a chat with them - it is possible to get PE again and even if you have no symptoms up to birth it can come on during or even after labour. May depend on how far from hospital you are?

It is probably too early to make a decision now, as you may yet develop PE in this pregnancy (although chances are much lower) - very much hope you don't - good luck!

I should ahve emphasised the reason I went to eh MW led unit was that the first hospital I birthed at cocked up the delivery so abdly they put mine and ds's life at risk 9I was fitting and they put it down to nerves!)- whether they'd have been so relenting without me swearing blind I'd rther deliver in the road than the first place again I know not

Hi rosebud

Previous history of pre-eclampsia does not rule out a homebirth for this baby unless you dvelop it again .

I'm sure you're being monitored well.

Plan for your homebirth and think posively.

All pregnancies are different.

I'm sure one of the lovely doulas will be along shortly and give all the information tp help promote a nice normal delivery.

Peachy that's horrific, I'm so sorry. My mum, who I think also had pre-eclampsia (she had many symptoms but was never diagnosed) fitted after giving birth and was told she was just in shock... I was so lucky with my hospital, I was in for 4 weeks and had excellent care.

Rosebud, I didn't mean to sound too negative in my first post, but I was planning a homebirth and was completely devastated when I had to go into hospital. So next time round I would be afraid to get my hopes up too far in case it happened again; but NoNameToday's post is much better!

Might be worth putting a shout out for mars or Lulu as well, or JoFeb- all Doula types who could help you perhaps.

Home birth should never imo be a firm plan, just a planned for case scebario- ie there's always the chance that you'll need a hospital transfer, even after the birth- say, a retained placenta.

i have to dash to pick up my boys, but take a look at www.homebirth.org.uk - there is a whole section on reasons why they may say you cant have a HB, and what it really means.

good luck.
