Relocating whilst pregnant

Hey all,

Just need some advice really. Ftm and currently 22 weeks and due end of October. my DH and I are looking to relocate closer to family who are around an hour away.

In my head, I would like to move back in around September. However, my concerns are with antenatal appointments I don't want to miss anything due to the move. I know it's a lot to take on whilst pregnant. Has anyone had any experience with relocating whilst pregnant?

I’m 21 weeks and relocating on 18th Aug. I’ve discussed with my midwife and she said it shouldn’t mean any missed appointments I will just need to self refer to maternity in my new NHS trust and make it clear the rough trajectory of my next planned appointment. At the moment I’m more concerned about husband having to pack up the house on his own...it’s not the same standing over him barking commands rather than just getting on doing it myself!!

I relocated whilst pregnant about an hour away

I set up all my appointments in my new area in advance of the move as we weren’t going to be in until a few weeks before the birth and needed to be registered at the right hospital and set if local midwives

I've got my next midwives appointment on the 7th I guess I should discuss it with my midwife then. See what she advises.

I agree @Phiphi123 I rather help with the packing. Maybe I could start slowly packing things away whilst I can move more freely, instead of waiting till closer to the time.

@Rebelwithallthecause I feel clueless tbh I wouldn't know where to start by arranging in advance.

I did this recently. We weren't moving far (about a 40 minute drive further out of London), and with husband working from home at the moment it gave us some extra flexibility because he could still take me to appointments in the original place if necessary, but I think we would still have been fine if I had switched provider straight away.

I had my 28 week appointment with my original hospital trust, then around 29/30 weeks I did a self-referral form to my new one, and registered at the local doctor. Less than a week later a midwife from the new place called back to book me in for an appointment with them (31 weeks). Did have to re-do my booking information from the first 12 week appointment, and re-do the booking in blood tests, but everything has been fine with the switch.

I moved when I was about 15-20 ish weeks ( 2nd pregnancy and 15 years ago!!) it was easy .
Good luck
