How much maternity pay do you get? I’m lucky I think my company is more generous than most and I get 20weeks full pay.

@SkylinesTurnstiles my situation is the same. Less than 15 employees but 7 figure profits.... I don’t think I can bring myself to ask for a better package. I know my male colleagues were only given statutory leave.

MaverickDanger · 22/06/2020 20:44

13 weeks full pay, 26 weeks half pay and 13 weeks SMP.

I work in an industry that is heavily male-dominated so they try to make things as family-friendly as possible to recruit & retain more women.

Stef92 · 22/06/2020 20:47

My work don't have a maternity policy in their contract so I'm expecting SMP. My contract says I'm entitled to 2 months full sick pay so hoping I can negotiate to be use as maternity, along with holiday and SMP! I will be the first employee they've had to be pregnant so will be an interesting conversation - can't mention anything until mid-August

OnlyFoolsnMothers · 22/06/2020 21:26

Stef92 do you not have a company hand book? If not that’s shocking

Everdreamer1990 · 22/06/2020 21:39

I work in the private sector. Currently on maternity leave & I only get SMP. Lucky my OH has still been able to work FT during lockdown so we aren't struggling loads.

I did get rid of my car on finance though when baby was born & we have taken out a mortgage holiday to take the pressure off for a while.

I usually take home about £1,700 pm to be earning about £140ish pw is a hell of a difference.

I'm quite envious of people who work for companies who offer enhanced maternity pay. I've been in my job for 8 years.

Stef92 · 22/06/2020 21:44

@onlyfoolsnmothers it's a really small company, I was the first person they hired who they didn't know beforehand x

WindsorBlues · 22/06/2020 21:50

Weeks 1-18 full pay. Weeks 19-39 Lower rate maternity pay. Weeks 39-52 unpaid.

Charlottejade89 · 23/06/2020 16:43

Smp only which is rubbish. So I'll probably have to go back after 6 months

LouisLitt1 · 26/09/2020 07:56

I’ve had a couple of chats with HR since informing them I was pregnant and feel very reassured. It seems my workplace has done a lot to ensure women are not worse off for going on maternity leave.

I’m surprised that, while my public sector employer offers generous maternity terms, the paternity terms are awful. Just two weeks (admittedly full pay, could be worse and only offer stat pay). You’d think they could stretch to four weeks for fathers.

I know someone who’s husband works for Facebook and he gets four MONTHS paternity leave! To be taken at any time, so taking two months at the beginning and another two months later when baby is older. Now that’s generous.

Vortice · 26/09/2020 18:51

I get 12 weeks full pay, 12 weeks half pay, then SMP. It’s not bad, I’m often shocked by how bad other companies’ policies are!

BikeRunSki · 26/09/2020 18:55

18 full pay
21 weeks stat
Public sector - government agency

mobear · 26/09/2020 20:08

24 weeks full pay and then 15 weeks statutory pay, but I plan to take a full year off. Luckily I have income from a rental property but it still makes me feel anxious although I know I’m extremely lucky.

eausolovely · 28/09/2020 01:52

Wow there is lots of variation, stupidly I didn’t realise that some companies offered better packages than others! I am 6 weeks at 90% then SMP which is shit, I genuinely wonder how people do it without another income.

Carmelova85 · 28/09/2020 06:49

My company is very generous in my opinion (massive software firm, I'm in Sales). I have 26 weeks paid 80% my OTE (basic salary + full commission), then 1 month gradual back-to-work policy when I work 4 days a week and company pays me for full time job and 250 GBP meal reimbursement so new parent doesn't have to cook right away.

My husband gets 12 weeks paternity leave fully paid on top of mine benefits.

Crimblecrumble1990 · 28/09/2020 07:14

Just SMP here, working for a big, successful company that prides itself on its 'family values' hmmmm....

RLGGG · 28/09/2020 07:19

4 weeks full pay Confused
