Anyone else had their GTT cancelled?

Got a text yesterday that my GTT has been cancelled. TBH I am slightly annoyed, I feel that I have already missed out on so much care and monitoring through this pregnancy, understandably to some extent, but it feels like I have just been left to it. I haven’t seen a midwife since the 10 week booking in and have had my urine checked once at my 20 week scan. I still haven’t had a whooping cough or flu vaccine. It feels like they should be providing some care, even if they can’t carry out the normal level. I have kind of pushed for a 25 week appointment in a couple of weeks, the midwife initially didn’t want to see me until 28 weeks. Anyone else feel they are getting substandard care throughout their pregnancy? I am also classed as high risk sfor feel it’s even more important for a bit of monitoring.

You should be able to call your GP to book your whooping cough vaccine I think (that’s the process where I live). I don’t think you’ll get a flu vaccine now until Sept/Oct as it’s not flu season, that’s what the nurse told me last week when I went for my whooping cough vaccine x

Hi OP, you won't get a flu vaccine now as they don't give them after April.
The whooping cough vaccine you can get up to 32 weeks (I had mine at 29 weeks).

I'm a high risk FTM as well and had consultant appointments at 15 then 28 weeks. My 25 week midwife appt was by telephone so the next f2f was 29 weeks.

I ended up buying some cheap urine test strips from amazon so I can keep an eye on protein and glucose levels. It's not ideal but it helps keep my anxiety at a manageable level.

I'm at my GTT now. It seems that care varies by area.

I rang my GP at 22 weeks and the booked me in for the following week for my whooping cough injection. As PP said flu season is over so i doubt you'd get that now anyway.

Just to add I am also high risk and have had the following:
Saw midwife at 8 weeks
Scan at 12,
Consultant at 14,
Phone call with midwife at 16,
Debrief for previous birth on the phone with specialist midwife at 17,
Scan at 20,
Vbac midwife on the phone at 24,
gtt 26
Will have a face to face appointment with midwife at 28. Have been told all my appointments after 28 will be face to face as I had hypertension in the third trimester last pregnancy so I need monitoring from then.

Where are you? Some trusts are doing blood tests hnac1 on booking (prior history/ risk factors) and another 28 weeks. I'd call your midwife and ask especially if you have concerns. So much better than drinking that goop 🤢

The midwives from the hospital have said it's so much more efficient and viewing to continue after this weirdness especially as it tracks your history rather than just that one goop occasion iyswim

I had my consultant appointment cancelled but did speak to her over the phone. I am hoping to get my whooping cough vaccine when I see the midwife for 25 week appointment. I am in Greater Manchester, I guess it depends on area. Will look for the urine strips on Amazon, might get some of those. Have also purchased a blood pressure machine, so I am monitoring that myself for now.

@3isthemagicnumber3 Feeling similar to you to be honest! FTM, consultant led pregnancy, half way through and have yet to meet a midwife face to face or have a single bit of contact with my consultant 🤷🏻‍♀️

Booking over phone at 9 weeks (10 min call), scan at 12 weeks where they took bloods/BP and checked urine and handed me my maternity notes and sent me on my way - nobody there to answer any questions etc, 16 week midwife appointment on the phone (3 minute call) - purely to tell me I MIGHT have a 22 week face to face appointment but they’re not sure yet, then scan at 20 weeks where they sent me along the corridor to a nurse for the whooping cough vaccine after 🤷🏻‍♀️ That’s all the contact I’ve had. There’s a date written in my notes for GTT next month - haven’t heard anything about it yet so hoping it’s going ahead as planned.

Flu vaccine they give between start October and end March and I believe you can have it at any stage of pregnancy. I won’t get mine until they start again in Oct, just before I’m due.
