Can anyone suggest a really good mouth wash that can help with gingivitis during pregnancy? My gums are so sore and bleeding. Really want to nip it in the bud!

I had it with dd and I have it again this time
HG doesn't help the situation!!

Dentist suggested the alcohol free corsodyl one but there's also a b&m or wilko own brand cheaper one which is very similar
I find the taste can prompt sickness so also have a sensitive colgate one the mild mint or sensitive or bluey liquid one.. That's helpful as it doesn't feel as irritable

You can also try dipping flossing/dental sticks in the mouthwash and trying that to help.
Otherwise regular dental appointments which arent happening here but maybe soon..

Hopefully it won't be too bad for you, I really feel for you as I know how awful it is.
I was so scared of it with my last pregnancy
How far along are you?

I’ve just bought some listerine alcohol free one. My gums don’t feel as strong so I’m freaking out about it. I’m 7 months pregnant. Hoping it will settle down after baby is here. Never had any major tooth or gum problems ever!

That's actually great that you are 7 months already though because you don't have much longer left til baby arrives and in most cases it really eases up after birth and the couple if months after. By the time dd was 6 months it was OK for me and this was from the dentist who wanted to send me for specialist work done!

Try the mouthwash, if it feels aggravating then switch to a sensitive one and build up if you can, I know what you mean. I wake up in tears or from nightmares over it.. I'm only 13 weeks!

All the best

Use interdental brushes every day, mouthwash alone won’t help I don’t think. I had it after DS1 (was fine whist pregnant!) and the hygienist didn’t even suggest using mouthwash just said I need to use an electric toothbrush and interdental brushes. After about a week my gums felt so much better and had stopped bleeding completely x

Dentist here. As @LBB2020 said, mouthwash alone won't be enough. Be super vigilant with flossing and inter dental brushes- gingivitis cannot happen without plaque, so if you're constantly cleaning it off, you should see some improvement.

I use curasept as it doesn't stain like corsodyl and it's great. I buy it online, it's not cheap (£7ish) but you only get one set of teeth! I'm using interdental brushes, which I dip in it and then use between my teeth before I brush. It really keeps my gums in good shape. It's so important right now as you can't see a dentist!

I get the b&m corsodyl type mouthwash and I also have the actual corsodyl gel for my wisdom teeth gum flaps but sometimes put a bit on other parts of gums that have felt more sore during pregnancy and sometimes run some on my floss

I bought chlorexidine mouthwash but just be careful not to use it for more than a couple of weeks as it does stain your teeth! Mine have stained slightly as I used it for too long. Can't wait till I can see the hygienist now!

I have the listerine one specifically for gingivitis
