Transverse and breech?

Hi,

Some advice would be greatly appreciated. I’ll try and keep it short.

At my 20 week scan I was told I had a low lying placenta but I’ve also seen from maternity notes it is posterior.

At my 24 week appointment with midwife the notes say the baby is lying transverse.

All the movement I am feeling are low down in pubic area. Also get the odd kick to bottom and cervix areas. I’ve discovered this can mean the baby is breech.

Is it possible for the baby to be breech and transverse? Does the low lying placenta have any impact on babies position?

My son who is now 6 was breach and had been for weeks and weeks. I discovered he was breech at a gender scan when I was around 16-20 weeks ( can’t remember exactly) and he didn’t move and I had a c section.

Does previous c section have any impact on future babies position in the womb?

Sorry for all the questions. I will be 27 weeks on Thursday.

Thank you Smile

My son was breech- delivered vaginally-and moved in to this position in Dec (xmas eve) born early March.

He used to kick very low down, underneath, head up under ribs making eating very much difficult Wink

Undetected until he 'presented' bottom first.

Not sure if that helps at all ?

@dingledongle
Thank you for your reply.
I actually feel as though baby’s bottom is at my left side. Been getting no pains in ribs at all. Just the kicking low down. Wish I had a scanning machine to see exactly where he is lying.
I have a 32 week scan due to the low lying placenta, actually anticipating I’ll need to have another c section again, if not for the placenta position then babies position x

Yes babies can be transverse and breech at the same time. Transverse means that baby is lying diagonally across your stomach rather than straight up and down. It’s then perfectly possible it’s breech too, it just means the bottom isn’t engaged in your pelvis and is floating about nearer your hips. It is still early days though and baby could still turn

My daughter was transverse breech until 27 weeks. I had kicks very early (from 13 weeks) and could visibly see kicks in line with my hip bones from 18 weeks whilst laying down. She was basically using me as a hammock from the scans. At 27 weeks she went head down and I was then told she was engaged from about 33 weeks ish. I was having weekly scans and was then told she had flipped back to breech. She had her head under my ribs until she was delivered at 38 weeks. They were looking at potentially turning her at around 37 weeks but I was being monitored for her being small so the consultant didnt want to risk hurting her or struggling to 'feel his way around' so I had the c section instead.

Good luck with the scan, because my son was an undetected breech, I had a vaginal birth however I remember him turning and certainly would not want a Dr to do this I would rather have had a c-section.

Take care Smile

I am 35 weeks and I have a low placenta with a c section booked in a couple of weeks. He moves between transverse and oblique breech (head up and the diagonal down body), can still move day to day. Can easily feel when he is transverse as there is something hard (head and bum!) either side. I am not worried what position he is in as a c section is the only possible way for him to be born anyway! I have had a previous section but I don’t think it has a baring on his position. I do wonder if the placenta is in the way of him going head down though... but that’s just in my mind, nothing to back that up! Xx
