Baby Carrier Recommendations

I’ve just been looking through various sites seeing lots of sales and might bite the billet and make a purchase starting with a carrier - I’m approaching 23 weeks and haven’t bought anything yet but think it should be ok to buy some things now?
I’m wondering if anyone had some suggestions/recommendations for a baby carrier that can be used from birth.

You tube has loads of video of baby carriers and sling/fabric carriers are easiest from birth.

I went to sling 'class' at a local shop when my son was 4 weeks as I would not have been confident getting him on and tying without help. Not sure if they are still functioning now with Covid but google sling libraries.

Anyway I tried a couple of different ones (were leant my other people) and got ready bad back pain with carriers that didn't have a waist strap.

So the one I found that fully supported and was easy to get on was baby Bjorn one. Some carriers have clasps at the back and are so hard to get on. Bought mine second hand.

Ergo baby 360. Really comfortable I could wear it despite the c section scar. The stretchy ones were painful on my scar

Which ever sling you get make sure it is hip healthy. For newborns I loved my close caboo. Nice and snuggly and ergonomic. When my baby was older about 6 months we moved on to an ergo and then a tula.

A lot of sling libraries aren't open at the moment, but there is "it's a sling thing" which does postal hire which could help you.

I used a close Caboo at first, very simple to get the hang of and comfy for us both.

I used the Baby Bjorn too, was definitely the easiest to get on and off while managing a baby too!
I loved the design of Ergobaby but had to return it as the velcro fastening was stupidly loud and you can't open it without waking the baby! Lol

We love our manduka, suitable from birth and can be used until they're 2 or 3! Hip healthy and spine healthy (beware of the front facing carriers they're actually bad for the baby's back and your centre of gravity). The manduka has been very comfortable and has a good supportive hip/waistband

Stretchy wrap sling for a newborn- can get a second hand one for very cheap. YouTube is great for learning how to wrap.

And then after that it's a personal preference, would highly recommend a sling library. Or just chat to other mums who baby wear a lot.

Avoid anything which is not hip friendly and allows babies legs to dangle down (baby Bjorn older versions)

I had a stretch moby wrap for the newborn stage then moved in to the ergo baby 360, I still use it now at 11 months and it’s still comfy and supportive

I have the original moby wrap and it has saved my back and my baby loves being in it. Still useful now at 8 months.
