Second (or more) time mums - what do I need?

I’m expecting my second baby, my first will be about 18 months when I’m due. I haven’t really bought anything, I think because DS1 is 11 months it all still feels fresh and I feel like I have everything.

I’ve just moved DS into a new car seat so I have the infant carrier

I need a double buggy and I’ll move DS into a bed nearer to my due date and get a new mattress for the cot.

What else do I need?

I bought a few new sleepsuits and vests, in plain white more just for the hospital! I sorted my eldest's old stuff out ready in case we could reuse some bits.
If you're bottle feeding some new teets (I washed our bottles and reused them as they were only 2 years old).
To be honest our youngest has hardly anything new as there is such a small age gap (2yrs).
Maybe a gift from the eldest 4o the baby...a cuddly or something and something for the eldest?

You will find you will probably have everything and what you buy will be just because you want it.

@WishMyNameWasWittyNotShitty thanks! I was just wondering if I was missing something!

Yes new teats are on the list, and waiting to find out gender before sorting DS’s clothes.

Hmm ok, benefits to having two close together is that I still have all the stuff!

Definitely a benefit, especially the bigger/more expensive stuff.

However, I seemed to forget how harsh the sleepless nights were, despite only a short time passing between having them both!

If you can I’d really recommend keeping your 18mo in cot and buying a new one for the baby. 18 months is so little for a bed, I think you’ll find it a really big step. Not preaching at all, you do you but it’s just my thoughts 😘 xx

Yea I wouldnt bother getting much new, my dd will be 2 years 5 months when I have my second and I'm planning on reusing everything, will just need new vests and sleep suits and blankets if its a boy. Also will need to get some cardigans, hats and possibly pramsuit as my dd was a summer baby so I do t have anything like that. Also, I put my dd in a toddler bed at 18 months and she was absolutely fine, shes never ever fallen out and rarely gets out of bed. we have a baby gate on her door though just in case but tbh at first I dont think she even realised she could get out of it. you know your child best so if you think they will be ok then go for it

Fresh bibs and sheets! Despite the Milton I have some proper grubby sheets and bibs so think it's only fair on this baby so have new.

Also if bottle feeding new teats

Id think more about things for toddler as you've probably got most of baby stuff you need. Toddler will need stuff to entertain themselves while you care for baby. My 1st was 18 months when second was born and her baby Annabel was great, she changed Annabel's nappy while I did babies etc. Also, sticker books were great, and those no mess colouring books. She was in a bed then and fine too. Fell out once or twice I think but I had a duvet on the floor so was a soft landing and she was fine.
Also, my slow cooker was great. Fire things in it in the morning and have a decent meal in evening even if you've had a rough day minding them both.
