Hi ladies,

I’m being induced at 37 weeks on the 27 June. It’s my first baby and I am just wondering how long It will take from start to baby? I know every woman, induction and birth is different but the MW said once me and my husband are In we are IN and can’t leave the ward due to Covid.

I’ve been told that due to my circumstances/waters breaking prematurely it will be one pessary and then the drip and no sweeps due to infection risk.

Just trying to plan ahead with snacks and cat care essentially 😂😂

TIA xx

I was induced for the first time on the Tuesday morning, nothing after 24 hours, induced again on the Wednesday, still nothing. Cervix wouldn't dilate so eventually had a c section and baby was born early hours of the Thursday. Good luck with the new baby!!

@Fishfingersandwichplease ohhhh you ooor thing!! I've heard several stories of women soldiering away for 3 days and then having to have a section!

I'll be so annoyed if that's the case because I suggested a section ages ago and the MWs/consultant were keen for me to have an vaginal birth (which I'm fine with) but it just seems so frustrating when you could have avoided all the pain and waiting and had ELCS in the first place!

Oh welllll eyes on the prize eh? 😂

First baby 6 hours after I had the drip put in and our 3rd baby was 1 hour after the drip (second was spontaneous labour)

9 hours from pessary going in to my first contraction, then baby was born 8 and a half hours later. I had the drip for the last couple of hours as my contractions were quite short. I don't remember the contractions being any more painful on the drip (and they confiscated my gas and air at that point as I think I was too high to concentrate on pushing Grin).

Hehe yes, it did seem like it was never ending!! And l chuckled when they said emergency c section cos l had already been there 2 days so not that much of an emergency!! But l got my gorgeous little girl at the end so all worth it!!

3 days from 1st pessary to water being broke, after that was put on drip about 20 hours later, then 5 hours after drip

Two days from start to baby.

First 24 hours with balloon, which didn't start labour. Consultant just managed to break my waters, then went straight on the drip.

From the drip to baby was 20 hours. Had an epidural from 6cm which was after 14 hours.

Did get to the pushing stage but my daughter was stuck (mild shoulder distocia with no lasting effects) so ended up with a forceps delivery.

She was my first so I have nothing to relate to, but I didn't think the drip was as horrendous as I thought it would be. I think I built it up in my mind due to all the horror stories out there.
