Morning sickness at 14 weeks?

My nausea has been horrible from the beginning and it was at its worst around weeks 9 and 10.. but now the nausea has settled, I'm throwing up a lot more? I can't hold it in either. I've been feeling horrible since yesterday. Will it get worse for me or stay this way? I was under the impression that it would ease by the 2nd trimester

Ah bless you OP, It's horrible isn't it.

There's not a simple answer unfortunately as every pregnancy is different.

For me, i had horrendous nausea and sickness until around 14/15 weeks (weeks 7-11 were the worst) then it gradually got less and less so it was only once a day, then every other day then every few days.... now I'm 31 weeks and haven't been sick at all in around 10 weeks.

My sister on the other hand never had 'extreme' sickness and nausea but did throw up once or twice a week for almost her entire pregnancy. In fact, she was projectile vomiting when her waters broke at 39 weeks!

I hope things get better for you soon!

With my first pregnancy I was constantly nauseous all day and sick every morning, but it was possible to hold it in mostly. Around 13/14 weeks it changed to slightly less nausea but more sickness and more uncontrollable. It did taper off after a few weeks but I was sicky and felt rubbish the whole pregnancy.
With my next pregnancy it all eased off around 13 weeks.

Everyone has different experiences but a bit like you I felt awful in the first trimester I'm now 17 weeks and feeling a whole lot better but I am still being sick. It sucks, I have no idea if or when it will stop and it's pretty random at the moment. I also can't hold it, I get warning but that's about it.

But I'm not feeling awful so I'm taking that as enough of an improvement for now!

My midwife said it's more likely that it'll settle down in weeks 16-17.

Im nearly 15 weeks and my morning sickness is still really bad. Im finding Xonvea helps a bit. I had to find out about that myself on NHS website (GP and pharmacy had never heard of it). I ran out and had Cetirizine instead today, feeling extra rough as a result. I too was hoping it would ease off after 12 weeks, and psychologically I found it hard when things didn't improve.

EveningReflection · 10/06/2020 14:39

@keepingbees thats really reassuring to know your next pregnancy wasnt as bad. Ive been worrying about having a second child if its like this again. Do you think there was any correlation between having a boy or girl?

Asianchick6693 · 10/06/2020 15:05

Thank you for all your replies. What makes it worse right now is having to come to work and they've introduced wearing masks in the hospital and visors where I actually work so I feel hot and sick all the time. It's not a fun place to be right now. I hope and pray it eases off, been having migraines a lot lately too.

@Asianchick6693 does work know youre pregnant in case it gets worse and you need some time off? Is it possible that the migraines could be dehydration related?

Asianchick6693 · 10/06/2020 18:38

@EveningReflection yes I had to tell them pretty much from the moment I found out I was pregnant due to the nature of my work. I already took 1 day off a few weeks back because the migraine and nausea isn't a good combo. Takes so much out of me. I think the migraines are related to the work I do, I do a lot of microscope work and am working on a computer screen day in day out. Currently I'm throwing up the same time after work as soon as I come home. Feel so drained!

@Asianchick6693 I hope things get better for you soon. Are you on any anti sickness meds? If not, it might be worth speaking to your GP. I suggest researching the options on NHS website first, as they are not always clued up.

xxxemzyxxx · 10/06/2020 18:55

Bless you op, Everyone is different but hopefully in the next week or so it will start to ease off.

I still had morning sickness at 14 weeks, I would say weeks 12-14 were my worst. I started getting pregnancy insomnia at week 12 and being tired was my main trigger for sickness. So even though I had been suffering sickness and exhaustion in 1st trimester at least I was sleeping! The insomnia made my transition into 2nd trimester horrible.

The good news is my sickness did go away at 15 weeks.

As per pp, does your work know? They need to analyse your work environment to not put you at any risk!

Asianchick6693 · 10/06/2020 18:58

@EveningReflection @xxxemzyxxx thank you girls. I didn't think they'd think my sickness was enough to give me meds for it but because its draining me I might speak to my GP and see what they think. I hope it ends soon!!
