Hi there
So I am 26 weeks and I def feel my baby everyday but it’s still not consistent and I still worry if I “try” and feel him and I don’t. I have anterior placenta but isn’t he big enough now that I should feel
Him all the time?!
I get so Happy when I feel him but most days I still worry - just turned 26 weeks

Hello, is this your first? I'm at more or less the same stage also with anterior placenta and I find it hard to always notice movement but I think unless I'm sat doing nothing and really concentrating, most of the time I'm not noticing slight movements. I definitely don't understand a distinct pattern yet but mostly feel movement when I'm relaxing in the evening. If you have any concerns, try speaking to your midwife who should reassure you on how much movement to expect now. I basically worried a little throughout the last pregnancy about movement and it was a relief to share the responsibility after birth.

I'm in the same boat at 26w with my 1st! i do notice it more when im sat still not doing anything else as the anterior placenta is making it all so dulled!

@EPSpartyof3 I too have an anterior placenta and I am now 34 weeks and I have to say I have never really felt any pattern. Certainly still had times up until 30+ weeks where I couldn’t feel her much at all and I would eat loads of sweet stuff and fizzy drinks and then spend ages lying down waiting to feel something. I went in to be checked at 29 weeks because I didn’t really feel anything all day despite all my best efforts and I was hooked up being monitored for over half an hour which showed lots of movement (even though most of it wasn’t felt) also at my 32 week growth scan they commented on how much baby was moving and I couldn’t feel her as she was facing my placenta. It has definitely increased my anxiety. I feel much more now but it’s mainly big movements which I can actually see too. Try not to worry but if you do ever have any doubts I would phone up because I felt so much better after I got checked over.

You are not supposed to feel movement all the time - the baby sleeps a lot!

Hi OP, I'm 31 weeks now with my first and i have an anterior placenta too.

They say that our babies start establishing a proper pattern from 28 weeks onwards and that was definitely the case for me. She still has more quiet periods of sleeping than being awake and moving but it's gradually increased over the last 2 or 3 weeks and is now pretty consistent.

My midwife told me they see a lot of women concerned about movement between 24 and 28 weeks as they are still really small then so plenty room to change position and 'hide' and no proper pattern yet.

Unfortunately, from what I've seen on MN, an anterior placenta has an impact on movements all the way through pregnancy.

27+4 here with an anterior placenta. If I've had a busy day, doing bits around the house, on my feet, it can get to the evening and I'll have no idea if I've felt anything that day at all. But yesterday I had a whole day on the sofa watching Netflix and was surprised at how much movement I noticed that I wouldn't feel if I was up and about.

I've still got no pattern, every time I think I've figured out a pattern, it changes a few days later and does something totally different. For a few weeks, I could guarantee that if I had a bar of chocolate or some ice cream at any point in the evening, baby would start kicking a few minutes later and be active for a good while. But that's not the case anymore! I could eat a vat of ice cream now and nothing could happen.

I do always feel baby at some point every day but can go hours and hours in between with nothing which is always a worry. And just when I start to think, should I panic, I get a little nudge. Movements aren't strong either, everything feels quite gentle and muffled and don't feel like they've got stronger or more intense really since I first starting feeling the first movements at around 21 weeks!

It is a total mindf*ck 😂

Hi op,

I'm 33 weeks with an anterior placenta and can honestly say I only started feeling baby move everyday about 2 weeks ago🤷‍♀️

I feel your constant worry those weeks where awful!! I had days where I was sure there was something wrong! But he just wasn't big enough to always kick hard enough for me to feel through placenta dependent on how he was lying.

Don't worry you will get to the point when there's no mistaking baby is okay and moving 🥰

I'm 26 + 2 with anterior placenta. And oh god I think I spend most days worrying about movements if I have hours where I don't feel anything or questioning if I felt anything or not. I have already been in once a week or so ago for reduced movement and he was fine, but it's just awful making you anxious all the time because of the baby is moving fine it's the placenta in the way! 🤦🏽‍♀️
