Redundancy at 20 weeks

Hey ladies, looking for a bit of advice.

I have a meeting tomorrow with work and by the sounds of it, I'll be getting made redundant. They didn't know I was pregnant (been on furlough since March) so I know the company is not doing anything dodgy and there's a few of us in the same boat (travel industry). Anyway, I'm 20 weeks so a bit stuck as to what my options are. I'd like to look for another job, but with only 4 months to go will anyone bother hiring me?

You could look at doing temp work to tie you over?

@lockdownpregnancy thank you I'll see what I can find ☺️

Hi, they will still need to pay you notice and will most likely, unless the company is folding, enter a period of consultation. So depending on your notice period it might take you close to maternity leave date. You should let them know you are pregnant at the beginning of the meeting, if there are opportunities for redeployment you should get some preferential treatment. Might even be worth emailing and telling before the meeting.

Good luck. :)

@LH1987 thank you so much! Yeah I was thinking of doing this. Wanted to make them feel guilty anyway so I was going to drop it in there haha. I know my notice period is 4 weeks, which is annoying cause if it was just a week after I should still be entitled to SMP. Anyway, I'll ask if there's other options and try play the sympathy card 😂🤞🏻 xxx
