Best books for first time dad's?

I'm 26 weeks and reading through 'positive birth book' which I have found amazing. And I just thought to myself my husband really should read something too but there are soo many books out there! We don't need too much of the pregnancy part as I'm nearly into my 3rd trimester. More for birth and when the baby comes.

If anybody has any good new dad orientated books? Tia x

I brought my hubby a funny book thats called "Dude, you're going to be a Dad!"

We found the Expectant Dads Handbook great. My husband said it was very pratcial advcie but also with a bit of humour!

Sorry "practical advice"! First trimester exhaustion is clearly effecting my ability to spell!

We bought "Commando Dad - Basic Training" in a tongue-in-cheek manner, but actually it's brilliant. I actually found it really useful as well - just really straightforward advice on how to do things when the baby is first here, what to pack in a bag if you're going out, how to bath the baby etc etc. My husband loves it and there's a website as well with extra stuff. I really recommend it.

Men, Love and Birth by Mark Harris is a really good read. It’s about being a good birth partner mostly. The author is a fairly well known male midwife.

@MumMrs85 there seems to be 2 books with this name, which author wrote the one you bought?

I second the ‘commando dad’ book.

(Some of the dad books out there are truly awful, patronising jokey crap, but we liked that one Smile)

My husband read ‘Pregnancy for men’ and he found it helpful and engaging. I read it also and it couples humor with frank accounts from real dads, it wasn’t patronizing or twee and even though I read loads of pregnancy books, I learnt a few things from the dad book myself!

Another vote for pregnancy for men... he loved this book which I bought him early in my pregnancy. So much so that he’s gone on to purchase babies and toddlers for men himself and has almost finished reading it within a day or two. Can’t currently have a convo with him lol x
