Hi all,
I am 32 weeks today and have been experiencing period pains for over a week. I though I would wait it out and see what happens and it has still persisted (on and off). At times, I am doubting myself whether it’s just a mild upset tummy as I have looser stools (sorry tmi) but there’s times I can’t have a BM even when it feels like it’s imminent. I then made the decision to go into hospital if need be and called triage this morning. The lady listened to my symptoms and said she’s not too worried and to just take painkillers and call if it becomes any worse/changes. I then called back in a few hours saying that the period pain is still there and that I really think I should be seen by someone to get checked out. But again, (I feel) she’s fobbed me off saying no need to come in.
Iv already had 1 preterm pregnancy at 36 weeks so naturally I’m worried and have been told there’s a higher chance of another early delivery.
I have checked online and the signs of early labour that I have include:
Menstrual-like cramps -
You may feel dull, aching cramps in the lower part of your abdomen. They may be continuous or come and go in a rhythmic pattern.
Abdominal cramps: Abdominal or intestinal cramps, with or without diarrhea. Persistent diarrhea may cause irritation of the uterus, which can lead to excessive uterine contractions.
Pelvic pressure: Sometimes described as a feeling that the baby will “fall out”. You may feel you need to move your bowels, but with no result. This feeling of pressure may be constant or may come and go. You also may need to urinate more frequently.
Abdominal cramps: Abdominal or intestinal cramps, with or without diarrhea. Persistent diarrhea may cause irritation of the uterus, which can lead to excessive uterine contractions.
What else can I do to be taken seriously?
I don’t want to over-exaggerate uneccasarily either - just to be seen, but I also don’t want to expose myself in hospital if it can be avoided.
Help please! Thank you!
