Being forced to take annual leave for antenatal appointments

Hi

Does anyone know if there is any law or case law to back me in pushing back against my employer who is trying to make me take annual leave for my antenatal appointments?

Thank you in advance!

Thanks @Level75 - I had heard that annual leave is separate to paid leave but was struggling to locate clear info on this online. I feel confident with what I've got now and confident about pushing harder if I have to. If you have any links to anything explaining the legal definition between paid leave and annual leave that would be useful as I'd like to mention that to them so that they don't make the same mistake with similar decisions in future!

OP they are not allowed to do this. My employer tried it and has been awful since I told them I was pregnant. You are entitled to paid time for the apps and travel time ! They can ask you to have it on your day off but you are under no obligation to do so. Please read your employee handbook , contact your union if you're in one and speak to maternity action !!!

Thanks @Piper1879 and sorry your employer is being like that. Mine are being awful too. It's quite clear I'm a massive inconvenience to them now and I actually feel worried that they might try to use covid to make me redundant. They're already putting me on furlough even though when the crisis first started I was seen as one of the few key members of staff NOT to furlough. They furloughed a huge number of people and I was not one of them, I got a phone call on Friday afternoon asking me to go on furlough and they haven't done this for anyone else at this time. Last time it was a huge decision about who to furlough and who not to - everyone got letters, now it seems like it's just me, and the only change I can see is that I'm pregnant... Anyway I hope I'm being paranoid but the whole way they have been so stubborn about antenatal appointments tells me everything about their attitude. I know if I was a more respected member of staff it would be a different story, but as a low paid maintenance worker it's quite clear I'm dispensable and shouldn't have dared fall pregnant... don't worry should they try anything I will absolutely fight to the death, my partner is a lawyer and I'm hoping me standing up for myself over the appointments will show them I'm no pushover xx
