Baby sleepyhead

Hi,
I’ve heard mixed messages about the baby sleepyhead with regards to safety. Can I ask what your opinions are and if you have used them before. Also they seem pretty expensive for what they are (paying for the name most likely) If they are any good, are there any lesser costing alternatives.
Thanks

Hi
I used sleepyhead nest for my baby from birth to 4 months. We put this inside our next to me cot as without he didn't feel very 'coocooned'. Babies like to feel like this as it reminds them of being in the womb. I got the 1that can be used up to 8 months however after 4 months he no longer found it comfortable as width wise it was became too narrow. For the price you are definitely getting quality, I'd recommend it 100% for the early months

We ended up investing in one for supervised naps downstairs and generally putting baby down on. I'd read lots of people recommended them

Does anyone know of any reported deaths from the sleepy head ? Sleepyhead Is a reputable brand , has high safety and certification standards and gets great reviews . Lullaby trust do recommend studying away from sleeping pods however I do wonder if that is dated or if the same rules apply for all sleeping pods .

TranielleRadcliffe · 14/06/2020 14:54

It’s not something I will ever buy because of the risks.

Pinkiii · 14/06/2020 14:58

I had one for my little one from birth slept in it supervised only and then we upgraded to bigger one when she moved into her cot as she wouldn’t sleep without it.

For us it worked really well and I will be using it again for any future children.

There are risks but they haven’t been around long enough to provide statistics.

Same as everything you do a parent you need to do your research and make an informed decision

My midwife said not endorsed by lullaby trust but she thinks ok on a flat surface (floor or table, not sofa) for supervised naps - and so many friends said they were invaluable that we’ve bought one

HelloViroids · 14/06/2020 15:03

Sorry I mean a FIRM surface (presumably also flat, but firm was the key word there Blush)

I used one with ds2 for naps during the day when I was supervising. I liked it for that but didn't use it overnight just in case.

We used it from birth to 8 months and DC3 was sleeping through the night within a few weeks. However I feel that because it was so comfy, DC3 used to stay in one position and it caused them to get a flat head (plagiocephaly). For context I never used it for my elder 2 DC who were colic & woke up frequently in the night, both with perfect round heads. If you use it or something similar, try to move baby's position if they are on the same side for more than a few hours.

@MichelleOR84 I'm pretty sure I read it applies to all sleeping pods
