Baby’s head and balloon induction

I had my midwife appointment today, 40+5 now. She had a feel of baby and it is head down but she isn’t sure if baby’s head is fully free or very engaged so wasn’t sure if she was feeling it’s head or it’s shoulders moving. They booked me in to the hospital on Monday to double check this, however I don’t know whether to try and ask for an earlier appointment as she panicked me when she said if my water breaks there can be a danger of cord prolapse. Which I’m not going to research as I would rather not worry too much, just unsure whether I’m safe to wait till Monday or call tomorrow and ask for an earlier appointment.

Another thing is that due to Covid my induction is booked for next Wednesday but this will be a balloon induction which I would go home for a period rather than staying in the hospital. Has anyone had any experience of this, none of my family had heard of it. Confused

I have heard of balloon Induction through the Oxfordshire Midwives partnership (I don't know where you are from, but they have some great information at the moment, aimed at the Oxfordshire trusts) it is a new type of induction that was due to be started this summer anyway, they have started using it earlier than planned due to Covid. It sounded really great, especially if you are near to going into labour naturally. The main benefit is that you go home, and come back to hospital the next day. If it hasn't worked you then proceed with a normal induction, I believe. I'm sure there is more information available through your midwife.
