Been a few years since I last done this so I need my memory jogged...

I'm 4 weeks pregnant.

When, and how, do I contact midwifes etc? Do I contact the GP too?

I'm based in scotland if that makes any difference.

I'm not sure if it's different in Scotland but, in my trust, you call the gp surgery to inform them and they give you the number for the midwives to self refer. You don't actually see the gp at all.

As Poster above has put, call GP and ask for midwife number and book your 8 week appointment. Start taking folic acid/vitamins if you haven’t already. Congratulations!

Congrats!

Each area is different. Sometimes you can self-refer to midwives without even calling GP. In my case, I called GP and had tele-phone consultation (literally 2mins to give me the midwifery link!). I then filled in the midwifery form online and emailed it off. That was all. In my area though, I wasn't even contacted by anyone till 10 weeks!

In my area I chose a hospital and they had a self referral form on the hospital's website. I filled this in & received a letter for a booking appt within a week. Not sure my GP actually knows I'm pregnant...!

Phone your gp and say you've just found out your pregnant and ask who your supposed to contact, they will give you the midwives number and then the midwife will make you a booking appointment for when your 8 weeks I think. That's what I done, from scotland too :)
