Essential oils and pregnancy- any harm done?

I’m 27 weeks. I’ve just had a massive falling out with DH because he just shook Tisserand BATH OIL over the upholstered bed head when I was in it, supposedly because HE likes the smell. Maybe nice in a bath but neat it makes me want to vomit. I’m furious because it has left greasy marks and left me feeling nauseous and I’m now in the guest room, but are any of these ingredients harmful to pregnancy? I breathed them all in for a while thinking it was pillow spray before realising what it was:

Prunus Amygdalus Dulcis (Sweet Almond) Oil, Caprylic/Capric Triglycerides, Polyglyceryl-4 Oleate, Lavandula Angustifolia (Lavender) Oil, Copaifera Reticulata (Copaiba) Balsam Extract, Cedrus Deodara (Cedar) Wood Oil, Tocopherol, Cupressus Sempervirens (Cypress) Leaf Oil, Santalum Spicatum (Sandal) Wood Oil, Citrus Aurantium Bergamia (Bergamot) Peel Oil, Jasminum Officinale (Jasmine) Flower Oil, Cananga Odorata (Ylang Ylang) Flower Oil, Linalool, Limonene

Thanks. I’m feeling so worried. My baby is IVF

Well, lavender, jasmine and ylang ylang are fine as far as I know. TBH, I think breathing them in would be fine even if they weren't- it's more application onto your skin you've got to avoid AFAIK.

The following properly diluted essential oils appear to be safe for use during pregnancy: benzoin, bergamot, black pepper, chamomile (German & Roman), clary sage, cypress, eucalyptus, frankincense, geranium, ginger, grapefruit, juniper, lavender, lemon, mandarin, majoram (sweet), neroli, petitgrain, rose, sandalwood, orange (sweet), tea tree, ylang ylang.

Thank-you @FourPlasticRings. I suppose it’s all a question of degree now. I just feel so sick again

I agree that it's only if absorbed through the skin that they are not meant to be used. Like a massage. I think smelling them would be ok.

ibuiltahomeforyou · 02/06/2020 22:24

Please don't worry, they are absolutely fine.

The advice is not to absorb them through the skin in the first trimester but that is to be cautious.

Tisserand's own website is reassuring about it too. The best of luck with the final trimester Thanks

Thank-you @ibuiltahomeforyou and @Viviennemary. I’m just now feeling so upset because there is no apology from DH and he’s not bothered I’m sleeping separately :-(

Have you tried going in and telling him how you're feeling?
