Hello,

Just wondering if anyone can recommend useful breastfeeding books? There are so many available so thought I'd ask MN what they found most useful?

Thanks

The Womanly Art of Breastfeeding (La Leche League) if you can find it

The Food of Love by Kate Evans and Dr Jack Newman's Guide to Breastfeeding are both great.

The Positive Breastfeeding Book by Amy Brown.

She is a leading researcher into infant feeding and firmly places women, informed choice and evidence at the centre of her work.

A friend recommended The Baby Feeding Book by Vanessa Christie as it covers breastfeeding and weaning but I haven't bought it yet.

I also like the positive breastfeeding book.

Thanks for the responses so far! I did find a copy of womanly art of breastfeeding on worldofbooks website really cheap (2nd hand) so I've purchased that one. I liked the look of the positive breastfeeding book so I might buy that one too! It's so hard to know which have the best content or if they are all quite samey!

The womanly art is great (despite the cringey title). If you read that and look at the Kellymom site you’ll have all bases covered.

The baby feeding book by Vanessa Christie. It's really good.

I have been reading what to expect when breastfeeding and what if you can’t? It’s really good and doesn’t put a lot of pressure on.

I've read both the Womanly Art of Breastfeeding and The Positive Breastfeeding Book. Personally I didn't enjoy parts of the Womanly Art as I felt it was very biased towards the organisation being 'the best' and slightly negative about health professionals. Although (unsurprisingly) much of the content is the same between the two books I really enjoyed the positive tone in the other book. I also recommend the Positive Birth Book. I've nearly finished it and I've found it very insightful.
