Worried about baby's movements

Hello!

I am 32 weeks today and baby has been very active since around 18 weeks. At around 21 weeks I had a bit of a scare as there was a drop in movement for 24-48 hours, I saw my doctor who did a scan and reassured me that baby was completely fine and it was most likely due to baby having moved position.

Since then, baby has resumed normal activity - frequent movements, kicks, wiggles etc but over the weekend I feel like there has been a drop again in movements. I can still feel movement but just much less often.

I feel like I am starting to worry that there is something wrong, is it normal to feel less movement if baby moves into a different position at this point of pregnancy? I am aware that there is far less room in there now and so wondering if it is likely that baby has just got themselves into a more cramped space than before.

Any reassurance or information would be appreciated!

I’m sure it can be very normal for things to change as baby moves but any change in movement - be it less movement or much for frequent movement, should be checked ASAP. Call your maternity unit.

Call your midwife to get it checked out. Reduced movements should always be checked out.

If you’re worried enough to post here then you’re worried enough to phone triage or your own midwife.

Go and get checked. Maternity services are encouraging people to go and get checked even throughout this pandemic. Why risk not going in?

Russell19 · 02/06/2020 07:38

Trust your instincts op. Get checked.

I had similar at 33 weeks, he was fine once I arrived and the lovely midwife gave me some OJ and toast but they were v keen to check us both over and repeatedly said to always go in if you're unsure x

I'm sure it's fine but definitely ring up now and get checked out asap.
Always better to be safe than sorry.

Go in to get checked, it will put your mind at ease and is the right thing to do.

MrsGEW · 02/06/2020 09:12

Get yourself checked out ASAP.
I'm 35+5 and I went to the maternity unit with reduced movements yesterday, little man was fine in the end. They told me that they are seeing a lot of reduced movements at the minute due to dehydration in this weather, but would prefer to see people, whatever the case.
I ended up being diagnosed with high blood pressure whilst I was there, so whilst movements were fine, it was still a worth while trip.

Thanks for everyone's comments. I have been at the hospital this morning (I am based abroad, not in the UK so do not have triage or a midwife to contact) and they have checked, all is fine and they did a ctg to confirm no issues whilst there.

Great news op
