How far along am I? Should I be concerned?

Hi!

So I have been having some concerns.
I have recently found out that I was pregnant. (this will be my 2nd pregnancy, 1st one was successful and my DS is 3 years old)

Now, I religiously follow my cycles and ovulation and according to my records, I should be 5 weeks and 6 days pregnant.

My OBGYN is saying that I am 4 weeks and 6 days pregnant, a week behind what my app is stating (she is basing it off my LMP)

I have a regular 26 day cycle and it never misses a day.

I got my results back from my blood work test.
My HCG on 05/28 was 257
My HCG on 05/30 was 698

More than doubled but my OBGYN says its still low and I am dating early 4 weeks and need to wait until I am about 6 weeks for a scan.

What do you think?
Should I be concerned with my low HCG levels even though they are rising?
Am I 4 weeks 6 days or am I 5 weeks 6 days pregnant?

I have also been experiencing some cramping and very minimal to no pregnancy symptoms, so you can imagine that I am thinking the worst.

I do have my final blood test today, but I wanted some reassurance or support from my fellow mothers/mothers to be out there.

Maybe you ovulated later?

AWILL1217 · 01/06/2020 17:19

@kfcplease yes maybe.

My OBGYN is saying with my numbers, I am now early 4 weeks, so its earlier than both her and mine predictions so I have been freaking out a bit over here.

Hi,

I think if she’s basing it off your LMP then it’s possible that you are 4 weeks maybe? I also had cramping the first few weeks of my pregnancy (and still do occasionally) and currently 14 weeks with also very little symptoms throughout aside from occasional tiredness and nausea but all scans so far showing a strong heartbeat and healthy baby thankfully. I did have a reassurance scan at 7 weeks though because I was concerned about the cramping and lack of symptoms as well.

Hopefully everything works out ok and the dates are just slightly off! My app also said I was a week ahead of what my Dr said but there was a setting that I changed which put me back to the same week.

Good luck with your pregnancy!

@kb28
Okay so it sounds like I am just overreacting!
Thank you for the reassurance and congratulations on the pregnancy.

I will still have my mind racing until the 7 week scan but this helps ease my mind until then!

Everything crossed for you Smile!! It took me until 12 weeks to finally stop my mind racing as much but just try to do what you can to take your mind off it as much as possible!

I had an early scan when I would have been 7+5 by LMP but baby only measured 6+1.
I knew I'd ovulated late but not that late and, by the time I had my dating scan, baby was somewhere between the 2 dates.
I'm now 29+4

Hey, sounds like your hcg levels are fine - you can’t “date” a pregnancy based on hcg levels. From a quick google:

“The American Pregnancy Association's typical hCG by week of pregnancy:

3 weeks: 5 - 50 mIU/ml
4 weeks: 5 - 426 mIU/ml
5 weeks: 18 - 7,340 mIU/mL”

Yours are rising normally and within reference range for anywhere between 4-6 weeks. Eg if you imagine hcg first detected at 3 weeks in a very very early implantation, then with doubling every 2 days you would get to 80 or so at 4 weeks, 640 at 5 weeks, and over 5000 at 6 weeks. But with a later implantation, say 4 weeks, hcg would be only about 5 at 4 weeks, then 80 at 5 weeks, 640 at 6 weeks... and so on and so forth.
Implantation can be 6-12 days after ovulation, and ovulation could be early or late... so don’t worry!

As a side note, if you track ovulation and you’re certain of dates then you’re more likely to be correct than her - but you’ll have to wait until your scan :)
