Reduced movements at 30 weeks

I work Monday to Friday and I'm very busy in my job so don't tend to notice his movements as much. However around 7pm every day I have an hour to myself once I've cooked and cleaned to feel baby and almost always straight away he moves and wriggles for me.

He's most active at night, he always has been, he moves for a good half hour as soon as I get into bed. He then wakes me up a good 2 times a night and keeps me up for around 20 to 30 minutes each time because of strong movements.

However, yesterday at 7pm I tried to feel for him, an hour went by and nothing. Decided to run a bath as he likes the bath which I felt one movement in the bath. Got myself dressed come downstairs and had a cold drink he then moved a few more times.

Went up to bed and he moved maybe twice the whole time and he hasnt moved throughout the night like he normally does.

So far this morning I've laid on my left side for half hour and nothing. I've come downstairs had a really cold Pepsi and something sweet this was around 15 minutes ago and still nothing at the moment.

I've tried shining a light on my stomach talking to him and not one movement.

How long do I leave it until I call the hospital, I'm getting very worried 🙁🙁

Call them now

TheLovleyChebbyMcGee · 30/05/2020 07:28

Please don't leave it any longer and ring now!

321Backintheroom · 30/05/2020 07:31

Please don’t leave it , contact the hospital .

larrythelizard · 30/05/2020 07:31

As the other posters said, ring them now.

The Midwife won't think you're wasting time, or being silly. Thanks

SpillTheTeaa · 30/05/2020 07:36

Ring them now. Stay calm, I know it's hard to as my DS has episodes of reduced movements and your heart sinks.
Say you want to be seen ASAP as you have felt nothing. Do you have count the kicks app? That's a good way to keep track of movements.
Baby could just be sleepy but please do go there now so they can get a good trace on baby.
If you have stairs try go up and down them a few times. I used to put a cold flannel over my bump and it always made DS kick to get it off

SpillTheTeaa · 30/05/2020 07:36

Had* not has

SpillTheTeaa · 30/05/2020 07:38

Also give your bump a little like (not hard obviously) see if you get any movements

SpillTheTeaa · 30/05/2020 07:38

Poke* autocorrect isn't my friend today!

Dollywilde · 30/05/2020 07:41

I’m at the same point along as you OP and my midwife really stressed at the 28 week appt that they’d rather see you and have baby doing the conga when they get you on the monitor than have you sit at home thinking about it.

I know it’s a bit of a pain but I’d give them a ring now.

Spark27 · 30/05/2020 07:44

Call them straight away. If you're not happy at any point you should always call them. Even if it's the 100th time, they will always want to see you x

DaisyChainsForever · 30/05/2020 07:58

Ring the hospital. You're not wasting anyone's time.

Mothertoone2 · 30/05/2020 08:03

Thanks everyone I phoned and midwife said I need to come in for monitoring, I'm here now. Thanks for making me feel like I'm not being silly but we are know our babies at the end of the day I think I just needed that boost to give hospital a call so thank you x

Good luck, keep us updated when you can

LittleBoyJuly2020 · 30/05/2020 08:07

I'm 32 weeks and between weeks 30 & 31 I had episodes where he was so much quieter than usual. It is SO worrying. I have a doppler and was up some nights at 4am checking the heartbeat.

Hope you've called them OP, they'll hook you up (and he'll probably start kicking like mad!) and reassure you x

Lavenderpurple · 30/05/2020 08:09

I’m glad you’re there. You must always seek medical advice if you’re concerned.
This was the biggest worry for me during pregnancy and I’m dreading the worry during this pregnancy when the time comes.
Hope everything is ok.

Mothertoone2 · 30/05/2020 08:33

Your right ladies as soon as they hooked me up he's kicked me a good 10 times!! So relived, being kept on the monitor for another 15 minutes or so

Glad everything was okay when you went for monitoring. I was the same with my first pregnancy I was very busy at work and couldn’t remember whether I’d felt movement or not, I used to keep a little notebook on my desk and kept a tally chart of movement each time I felt I’d note it down. It definitely helped. Just an idea!

sel2223 · 30/05/2020 09:43

@Mothertoone2 pleased you called up and went in for monitoring. It really is better to be safe than sorry and , after 28 weeks expecially, most babies have a pattern established so any change needs checking out.

I was at hospital for a consultant appt last week at just over 28 weeks and mentioned less movement in the proceeding 24 hours and they had me straight to the MAU being monitored. Baby was fine and wouldn't stop moving when I was there so it kept dropping out and they would have to reposition the monitor to hear her. Anyway, I ended up on the thing for an hour.
In that time, I had repeated 'spikes' around 30-35 but couldn't actually feel.any pain.or tightening (or anything at all). The doctor had a look at the chart and wasn't concerned at all, she told me it was probably braxton hicks and to only worry if I started feeling pain and/or leaking fluid or blood.

LittleBoyJuly2020 · 30/05/2020 10:13

Ahh so glad everything is ok!

TinnedPearsForPudding · 30/05/2020 10:17

That was remarkably fast, 7.25 you're asking for advice about reduced movements and by just after 8am you've managed to speak to a midwife, get to the hospital and be put on a monitor. Must be fastest ever....amazing service! Wish my hospital was that close & efficient

SpillTheTeaa · 30/05/2020 10:49

So glad baby is okay! They wouldn't have sent you home if they weren't happy with the trace. Very quick to get you in that's brilliant. Always trust your instincts and never be afraid to call they will always want to see you.
You might want to get @MNHQ to remove your pictures as has your DOB and NHS number x
