When will things change

I know it is impossible question but when do people think things might change. It’s so sad partners can’t come to scans, appointments etc. And births just 2 hours. I completely understand why and actually support it as I don’t want to put unnecessary pressure on the nhs, but equally with lockdown reducing, I’m hoping it might change? Doesn’t look likely though. :(

I'm due the 24th July and my midwife has told me that I will be giving birth following the current guidelines, only 1 birth partner. But only when in active labour so 4cm and above, birth partner to leave an hour after birth and not to return for visits until me and baby can go home.

I can't see it changing before then, I think hospitals will be the last place to reduce their strict lockdown measures. They won't want a second spike starting in their hospitals if they open wards to visitors, or have extra people attending appointments. It's sad and I would love the extra support as a FTM, but I guess it's being done to try and keep us safe.

My hospital decided 2 weeks ago they would allow one guest at the 20 week scan again, because i think they'd realised how badly it was affecting the women that were getting bad news to have no support at them.
I've not had a 16 week appointment but my screening came back fine so I'm not chasing it..

I think any changes will end up being gradual. I'm due in October but i m lucky that I'm a 5 minute drive from the hospital so unless of course there's a concern for me and baby if i get checked in labour and I'm not 4cms, I ll definitely go back home and wait it out.

@1990shopefulftm That's great news about the 20 week scan, please can I ask what area you're in?

My trust restarted home births again (around 3 weeks ago) but as for hospitals, who knows!

@Clemmie83 I'm in Lancashire, it's just the 20 week scan they're making an exception for at the moment but I'm very grateful for it.

I don't think this is going to change in the short term, I think it'll be one of the last restrictions to be lifted. This is our first DC and we only intend on doing it once so it's been really hard to not have DH at scans etc, for him as well as me. For that reason we've booked a private scan where he attend so he can see/hear baby and experience it too. X

I think it's best to be mentally prepared that it's not going to change anytime soon.. just in case. But hoping for good news!
