Been TTC since April last year, conceived in February but miscarried at 5 weeks, have been trying ever since but still not successful so I’m curious to hear (read!) what everyone’s advice is, from food, to tablets, to anything really! I’m sure I’ve read everything there is to know but still curious! X

Make sure you’re having sex early enough in the month - we took 1 year for the first pregnancy then 6 months for the second.

Turns out I may have conceived on Day 8 of my cycle both times!

That’s a full 6 days earlier than the Day 14 everyone talks about!

SmileFlowersgood luck OP X

@MinesALatte

One other thing - is your BMI in the healthy range?

Mad story (forgive me!) but my ex was a sheep farmer, it was his job to get about 500 ewes to conceive every year! Part of this involved making sure their weight was in a good range, as if they were overweight or underweight they were less likely to conceive.

I don’t want to compare you to a sheep Grin but it does seem sensible to review your weight as part of a full healthy lifestyle approach x

‘Cumulative conception rates are around 75% after six months, 90% after a year, and 95% at two years.’ - www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC188498/

What I had to keep reminding myself was that it is common for it to take up to a year to conceive. The chances of conceiving each month are around 25% in a couple with good fertility (correct me if I’m wrong). Couples who conceive in their first month are incredibly lucky.

I used pregnacare for months before I even started to TTC, but I guess any pre-natal vitamins would work.

I used ovulation kits - the clearblue ones and cheaper ones from amazon as I found that using the clearblue ones alone were not that accurate (it got it wrong one month - said I had ovulated but I actually ovulated much later and had such a late period for some reason).

We had sex on the first high fertility day, then every other day until I got a peak. We then tried every day starting on the peak day, for 3 days (2 peak days and one day after which is supposedly after you have ovulated).

Also, I didn't get up after the deed was done. Stayed lying in bed!

I tried monitoring my basal temperature but just didn't have the patience for this.

Good luck xx

It took us a long time to conceive at all (over 2 years) and then I had 2 consecutive missed mc at around 11 weeks. I’d advise getting your thyroid checked ASAP if you can as any problems with that have a big impact on being able to conceive at all. I have an underactive thyroid but it wasn’t even checked until we were referred to a fertility clinic, despite me reporting a number of other symptoms to the GP (anxiety, vertigo, fatigue particularly in the autumn/winter, gaining weight easily and struggling to lose weight). Literally the first month I started taking medication for it I got pregnant. Sadly it’s taken a while to get the level of meds right, hence the mmcs, but am now almost 37 weeks pg.

Also I tracked my cycle using Ovia app and cheapie ovulation sticks. As soon as I got a faint line on the stick we would start dtd every other day, we didn’t wait to get a strong positive.

The month we conceived successfully we had both started taking MACA capsules which id heard great things about. We also started DTD in different positions and not worrying about which position we finished in. I genuinely think this help as we always finished in missionary before and maybe that's just not good for my cervix position 🤷🏻‍♀️. I also did the whole 'legs up on the head board' afterwards for about 30 mins and stood up and reset about half way through.

To mention, I was also doing ovulation tests, SMEP and pre seed but had been doing all these for months before

Yy @Gerdticker. After 9 months of serious trying, I discovered OPKs and found that I ovulate on day 4!

Lots of good advice here OP. I felt the main thing was to have different things to try, which might help - it gave me something else to focus on, something to do, which might help, and which helped those days/weeks/months of waiting to pass by less stressfully.

I followed the advice and supplements recommended in "It Starts With The Egg", used fertility lubricants and the OvuSense ovulation monitor every night to track my fertile days

Pressed worked first time for us after 9 months of not getting pregnant. Of course it could have been coincidence and we’d have got lucky that month anyway, who knows.

Not sure if its just a coincidence but the first month we tried it didnt work. The second month we only tried once (stopped when covid was kicking off). Anyway it worked that time and the difference was that both me and my partner were taking "pregnacare conception" tablets for a couple of weeks prior. Im 38.

For us SMEP worked, we dtd so much that month and I swear that's what did the trick!

Thank you everyone! This is all so helpful... I’d convinced myself we weren’t successful this month but have a very (VERY) faint positive line today so I’m hoping this is it and this one sticks!
If not, I have a whole heap of useful advice to call upon xx
