You need to ring your gp they will guide you from there hun and they will get your 12 scan booked it's still all open that part.

Hi! Congratulations!

I didnt go through my GP at all.

In some areas you can self refer to the community midwives.

Congrats!!!

Congratulations!
I phoned my gp surgery - there is a midwife that works through my gp surgery 1 day a week so I was able to book my booking appointment at ~8weeks directly.
The process varies from area to area but your gp surgery should be able to advice you on you need to do.

sel2223 · 28/05/2020 11:38

Are you in the UK?

In my area, you ring the gp surgery and they give you a number to self refer to the midwives. I then got a date for a booking in appointment which wasn't till I was about 9 or 10 weeks.
I didn't see anyone before that.

Google your hospital +maternity referral. Lots of them you just do it directly. No need to call the GP.

Wedding2018 · 28/05/2020 12:42

@sel2223 I live in the south east,im going to ring the doctor later after i done another test just to make sure coz i brought the first test from Amazon

Congratulations!

I phoned my GP who gave me the number for the maternity booking in service, and I made my initial midwife appointment and 12 week scan appointment with them directly.

Congratulations! 🎉 I live on the South Coast and we were told to self refer rather that go through our GP. It may be different elsewhere though. Have a look on your local hospitals website and it may advise you on there 😊 x

Lots of maternity departments win’t accept a referral until 6 weeks. I wouldn’t panic about doing anything just yet, just find out what the process us in your local area. Look at the website for your local hospital, decide if you want to have a baby there and see what your other options are nearby. Bear in mind that if you don’t book with your closest maternity unit, things might be a little less straight-forward in terms of referrals, tests etc.
