Bleeding and tightening at 29 weeks - cheer up

Hi all,

I'm 29 weeks and 2 days with a beautiful boy.

On Monday I fell down the stairs and have had on and off bleeding and heavy period pains since as well as some bad bruising from the fall.

I just really need a cheer up as I'm so upset and annoyed with myself for falling- baby's heartbeat dropped to around 26 earlier after a tightening and I feel heartbroken.

Baby's dad hasn't bothered and is more concerned about women and his sisters child and ironically his sister is here being induced.

I'm just looking to be cheered up/positive words or similar stories if possible.

Thank you allSadx

Hi - sorry you’re going through this! Glad you added the second post, was going to start virtual-shouting at you to go to hospital!

Accidents happen - you can’t spend 9 months wrapped in cotton wool, sometimes falls happen and it’s not your fault.

I assume the doctors are monitoring baby and have talked to you about steroid injections, magnesium etc if things worsen? It sounds like the fall has caused a small abruption - bleed behind the placenta. Sometimes that will settle just fine and sometimes it needs delivery.

Re baby’s heart beat - it’s actually pretty common for a 29 weeker to have the odd short drop in heart rate, and also for the machine to read low when it’s actually just not picking it up properly. You have professionals around you who will be able to interpret whether the heart rate is cause for concern.

I’m sorry you’re going through this, fingers crossed all settles.

I am sorry that happened, must be so worrying.

Try not to look at the heart rate, let the midwives and Dr’s advise. I had monitoring this week and some of the monitoring worried me, low rate etc and they weren’t in the least bit concerned.

Let us know how you get on xx
