Babies movements

What were you babies movements like at 34 weeks?
This baby was quite active between 22-29 weeks then their pattern changed - I did go in to get checked as the movements reduced drastically. All was fine.
At my last appointment (last week) they asked if I was happy with movements, I said kind of as baby has a pattern but doesn’t move much at all. The midwife monitored me just to reassure me and all was fine.
BUT I just feel worried all the time. This is my 5th baby and I’ve not had one that barely moves.
34 weeks and pattern is
8am ish - 2 or 3 kicks
3.30pm - a turn/push and a few kicks
10.30pm - A few kicks (maybe up to 10)
That’s it, I literally get nothing else during the day and if I do at night it’s not waking me (it used to wake me between 22-29 weeks as baby was very active during the night). I constantly hear the question in my head ‘are you happy with babies movements’ logically I know there’s a pattern and I’m okay with that but then fear washes over me and I panic as there are so few movements. Has anyone had similarly low movements? X

My little girl had moments of not moving towards the end, she became lazy and only moved once hooked up the the machine because she didnt like it lol
Have they said whether or not your placenta is at the front or back? If its at the front you are less likely to feel movements.
Also they say as long as thats normal for your baby because each baby will have their own schedule, so if thats normal for your baby I would think things are okay, if there was a very noticeable change then I'd be worried x

I am in exactly the same position as you OP. I am 34+5 and my little boy moves every day, but no pattern to speak of as such in these last few weeks. He was such wriggler up to about 30 weeks and he's definitely changed his movement now. He moves early morning, then sometime around breakfast, a little more during the morning, perhaps a bit in the afternoon, then he'll have a stint of movement mid evening. Last night I was on the verge of ringing the hospital triage as he'd not moved for some time and by 9pm, I was in tears and getting worried, then out of nowhere came some mega jabs and kicks, like he was trying to punch his way out and then he calmed down again!

The movements seem to be a softer a lot of the time, like he's struggling to move and unable to muster up the force for bigger kicks and moves, I'm guessing that is him running out of space. But when the movement is so soft, I struggle as I don't know if its him moving, or my imagination!!
(right on cue now he has started with kicking, which has reassured me once again thankfully!)
I spend a lot of my day sedentary - desk job, working from home - so I really notice if I've not felt anything for a while.
My DH keeps trying to reassure me when I get tearful but like you I have the midwife's words always ringing in my brain about calling if I'm unhappy with movements. I'm a FTM so haven't known what to expect. These last few weeks feel quite stressful in comparison to the second trimester!

Thank you for the replies :)
@EllieJai44My placenta is at the back so it’s not that. I’ve obviously got one that doesn’t move too much. 🙈 my baby moved once the first time I was monitored and 3 times the second time but that was with cold water and prodding. Arghhhh

MrsGEW it’s horrible isn’t it. I spend most of my day stressing out about it and get to the point I’m going to ring then baby moves or I feel really bad taking up people’s time when I’ve been monitored twice already. I just don’t know why I should be expecting (and it’s my fifth) 😢

I’ve always wanted 6! So I’ll have 6. Although this is our last I’ll give birth to. Our final child will eventually be adopted. 🥰

Iv had issues lately to. My baby's been a super active baby from 24-28 weeks. Then all of a sudden I got hardly anything. Got worried and went for monitoring. All was fine but still the movements even on the monitor were nothing like I'm used to. She had gone breech which was making a huge difference.
A week later I went back in as she was so quiet again and got sent for a scan day after. She's breech with all four limbs at the back of me.
That's why I'm not feeling her much.
Now I'm 30+3 and she's literally kept me up all night. No idea what position she's in 🙈 some of the kicks I'm getting right now are actually hurting. She's super kungfu today 😂
If ever in doubt phone your unit. The Midwife's Iv seen have always been so supportive x
