Typical food aversion?

Hi! I'm 7+4 today and my husband just requested a chicken and pickle wrap... Firstly I'm not sure chicken goes with pickle. I opened the Branston Pickle jar and the smell made me heave! Now bear in mind that two weeks ago I was eating cheese and pickle bagels every single day, I couldn't get enough. Looking back I think I was craving it. Is this a normal food aversion, something you loved turned to something you cannot stomach? Or did I over do it with all those bagels!!

No that’s pretty typical. This has happened to me a ton . It’s so bizarre when it happens . A few examples of foods I use to love that make me sick now :

Anything cooked on a Bbq ( wtf?)
Hawaiian pizza
Anything cooked in oil on a frying pan
Fresh home cooked bread ( this one is a huge wtf for me. Fresh baked bread use to be one of my favourite smells. I’ll throw up if I smell it now )

In my first pregnancy I became averse to the smell of vegetables!

LittleBoyJuly2020 · 25/05/2020 21:21

I'm 32 weeks now but between week 6 and week 25 ish I had serious food aversions.

The one that has stuck is chocolate. I haven't touched it (or anything sweet really) since week 6. Not sure I'll ever like or eat chocolate again, which is so sad!

borntohula · 25/05/2020 21:29

Almost everything really.

I have gone off chicken. I can't stand the texture of it between my teeth! And wilted spinach - I used to love it but now it makes me shudder

Loladisco · 25/05/2020 21:44

Same as a PP with the freshly made bread. We have been making our own bread during lockdown and until recently the smell was amazing, and I just wanted to eat bread every hour of the day. Now I can't stand it! And chocolate (seriously wtf). Vegetables also proving to be quite a problem. Getting a bit better now but for a few weeks I lived on potato waffles

I hated chicken, still water (had to be sparkling), tea, coffee and most vegetables during my first 2 trimesters.
Before getting pregnant I would eat about 3 servings of veggies a day and at least 1 coffee and 2 teas!

Anything I ate regularly before nausea kicked in made me feel so sick. So basically most of my normal diet turned my stomach. Even down to specific branded items that I used to have.

A specific totally inoffensive pizza from Aldi used to make me want to hurl.

shellby28 · 25/05/2020 22:04

Oh god totally normal. Mine was anything Mediterranean, halloumi, olives, hummus, pesto anything like that made me heave

RaN88 · 25/05/2020 22:59

I loved reading all of this, I find it all so fascinating! I'd be gutted to go off the BBQ taste... I hope I don't have that 😬

I basically ate beige food for months because everything with a strong flavour made me feel awful. Then towards the end of my pregnancy I crunched ice like it was sweets.

sel2223 · 25/05/2020 23:16

Red meat....especially in a rich sauce like casseroles, meatballs etc.
I'm nearly 29 weeks now and the smell still makes me heave!

Soozbuck · 26/05/2020 00:19

Buttered toast.. used to love the smell, now I can't stand it 🤢 also bananas!! Just thinking about the texture makes me heave. I was convinced I could smell them in a fruit bowl all the way from my kitchen the other day so off they went to the bin 🤢😂🙈

allfurcoatnoknickers · 26/05/2020 00:59

In my pregnancy I developed a major aversion to anything except toast/bagels, salmon, cucumber, avocado, watermelon and coffee. Occasionally I could stomach something else, but it was horrible.
