Hi Girls 🥰

Im 35 weeks, first timer also!!

For the last couple of days i have been experiencing what feels like intense period pain and it comes and goes not regular, last night it got so intense i convinced myself i was in labour so attended maternity assessment, long of the short lots of tightenings identified on the monitor every 8 mins, doctor examined me cervix is shut and put it down to braxton hicks (mortified😂) ive never experienced BH until now

Anyway... today its even more intense and im like wtf if this is BH, how the hell will labour be i've been on all 4's this morning crying not even joking.

Is this normal or am i just the biggest pussy known to man 😑🤷🏽‍♀️

Hey,

How are you feeling now? I'm 36+6 and haven't experienced BH myself but from everything I've read, BH can be strong tightenings but shouldn't be painful. Are the pains just in your stomach or also in your back?

Apparently they should ease if you change position or lie down. If they aren't subsiding and are painful then I'd get back on the phone to triage.

I agree with pp and get yourself on to your maternity ward. If you're crying because you're in that much pain they need to keep an eye on you and baby just make sure that it is just BH and they are just horrendously painful.
Alternatively you could just be in a very slow labour! My cousin has her baby girl last month and nothing was happening except contractions for two days and only then was she 2cm dialated! 😬
Hope you're ok

I really don't think BH should have you on all fours and crying with the pain. I don't remember them being that painful. You can though have contractions that stop and start and don't really do much in terms of changing the cervix. I had some contractions at 35 weeks, they stopped and then I was induced at 37 weeks for other medical reasons. The induction was a breeze though because those contractions must have eventually done something as I was already 3cm dilated when they examined me prior to starting the induction process!

Thanks for all your replies much appreciated!

Im being induced at 38 weeks anyway not relating to this, consultant led for being on fragment injections for previous blood clot.. so hopefully not too much longer now.

Its eased off as the day has went on but still having a few sore ones every hour or so now.. bloody hurts a lot... wonder if it is slow labour who knows🤷🏽‍♀️ as long as my waters don't break i'll ride the storm for now as the doctor was very clear my cervix was closed yesterday and said it was just braxton hicks. Like i say maybe im just a complete pussy with pain🤣

Hope your all doing well 💕

@FirstTM2020 the feelings you're having really do sound like early labour to me. Don't be afraid to go back to the assessment unit to get checked again if you're finding the pain too much. Things can progress quickly so no harm in getting checked again if you feel you need it.

You're not a pussy at all, I'd be down there banging on the door at the first twinge 🙈😂

LittleBoyJuly2020 · 25/05/2020 21:01

I'm 32 weeks and having Braxton Hicks. They're not painful at all just a weird tightening feeling all over my stomach. It stops when I rest.

What you're having doesn't sound like BH it sounds like labour! x

HumphreyCobblers · 25/05/2020 21:13

When my baby was back to back the BH were painful but nothing like as bad as you are experiencing. I would go in.

Oh and your pain is real, it is not something you are having because you are a wimp. You are doing well and are calm considering how much pain you are in.

FirstTM2020 · 25/05/2020 21:18

Aww your guys are so nice thank you 🥰

Its deffo better than it was this morning/afternoon its just a few every other hour as time it getting on this evening.. surely the doctor would have noticed if i was in early labour though 🤷🏽‍♀️

I'll see how the rest of the night goes, if its like this tomorrow i'll go in again and explain, but suppose what could they really do apart from tell me to come back when contractions are regular if i were to be in labour, you know what its like x
