I was induced for my 3rd baby too at 38 weeks, they couldn't break my waters so used the pessary which worked instantly for me I started contracting every 2 minutes so after 20 minutes they took it out hoping the contraction's would settle down and they never did, I was moved to L&D they checked me I was 3cm MW broke my waters and 30 minutes later baby was here with 2 pushes. Labour lasted 4 hours. I've been induced twice and both have been very positive calm, quick labour's x

Good luck Grin

Thanks @Maidmummy
That is the kind of outcome I'd like! I'm dreading it taking days to work because it's a full 5 weeks earlier than I had my previous 2 but hoping my body will know what it's doing

I think that's why mine were quick because it was my 3rd so my body has been through it before, same here I was used to having mine nearly 2 weeks after my due date so to have one at 38 weeks so quick was a shock lol, I was in a room with 2 other women who had been induced and 36 hours after my baby had been born they still hadn't had their babies turned out it was their first baby and it can take longer apparently. Hopefully yours is a breeze Grin x

I was induced at 40+6, had my waters broken at teatime (3cm dialated) made very little progress so started oxytocin drip at midnight, baby was born at 4pm the next day, I had no idea it took that long, I honestly thought she was born at 4am!
Oxytocin made things very sore but I had diamorphine and gas & air.
Didn’t need any assistance for baby to come out.
I don’t remember it being traumatic at all, but my husband remembers much more of it than I do!

I'm booked in on Wednesday for an induction (37 weeks), so its nice to hear your positive stories. Although this is my first so I imagine it might take a bit longer! @pollysproggle, I'll come back and tell you how it goes.

The hospital said they will call any time on Wednesday for me to go in. Is this normal?

I was induced for both of mine, just back home with my 2-day old son actually.

Both times they used oxytocin, sweeping of membranes and breaking my waters to encourage labour to progress. It was fast (5-6h both times) but also probably more painful than natural labour, the contractions were very strong and painful.

The second time started slowly but then went so fast that the epidural didn't have time to work (it started working after my son was already there).

So in my experience inducing makes birth fast but pretty intense. The pain was excruciating both times.

However I didn't require forceps or any other intervention. I had some tearing (much worse the first time, found sitting painful for weeks afterwards ; this time I'm pretty good, can hardly feel the stitches).

Thanks every one!

@Maidmummy fingers crossed mine is the same! Equally though I'm worried about too quickly. Husband can't be there for induction but can be for the birth with a 30 min drive to the hospital so hope he makes it!

@LH1987
Yes do let me know how it goes, they have told me to phone at 8am on the day and then they'll tell me what time to go in.

@Malysh
Congrats on the new baby!
I've never had an epidural but planning one this time because of that reason, it all coming on fast plus having to go through induction alone- consultant put in my notes that I want an early one- not sure how early that means though?
